Oil leak - Arrrggghhh!

The cam cover bolts are unigue and should be replaced to get torque right if the washer on the bolts are jacked up

Oh hurray! Got a call from the shop and Edsel is repaired again. Going to pick him up tomorrow. Techs notes on the repair is that he wants me to ride the bike 50 miles or so let it completely cool off open the radiator cap and check the fluid level. He is suspecting a small tear in the head gasket. 🤷‍♂️. The love hate relationship continues.

Hope that's covered under warranty. Funny way to check for a leak.

In Feb of this year I had similar , but that time I ended up with a dead horse on the 405.
Not real fun
This time hopefully it is only the Cam cover gasket.
Yes it should be under warranty.
But JEEZ, come on. (Just venting) I swear one of these days Edsel your Gonna come up lame and I’m gonna put you down. 🔫

You have better luck with a older cam cover like from 05, 06 , 07, for sure. Im not sure about when Triumph changed the covers maybe Roadster time frame ? I only have 05 thru 07 so I can definetly say they are the same. I'm not saying you can't get the newer ones to seal they are just more particular. You can see the difference below first older style

Now newer style

Thats probably why the older bikes don't have the oil leaks as often.

Warp thanks for the info. But for now warranty is covering the cost of the repairs, so I am reluctant to swap out the cam cover. That’s not saying I won’t source one and swap it out later on .
I am certain that my problem is heat related. Both times this has happened there has been a coolant issue to go along with it.
First time busted radiator hose and cam cover gasket (6000ish miles).
2nd time The temp light came on when doing an adaptive reset.
I was heading to the dealership to schedule a coolant system check and flush. Was only a quarter mile from dealer when Edsel started slobbering oil out the engine.
10,000 mile service check was done about a month ago.
Tech notes from this last repair say coolant was low. Bike has never leaked any coolant that I have seen. No tell tale white spots were coolant has cooked off the engine or pools of coolant under the bike.
Coolant is going somewhere. Bike has always run what I thought to be hot, but everyone just said it’s a Rocket thats just the way they are.
I think a poorly done coolant refill (air left in the system) was the cause of this last failure. Eh but what do I know?
