The earliest reference I can find to Rocket III models with ABS brakes are the 2011 Roadster and Touring models. I see that reference in the BikeBandit.com OEM parts lists and diagrams. Anyone know of earlier Rocket III model years with ABS? I ask because I've seen a few earlier Rocket III model year bikes advertised for sale with ABS, like '06, '07, '08, '09, but I am skeptical about them actually having ABS.

Thanks

My 2010 Roadster came with ABS, not sure when the Touring got ABS.
AFAIK no pre 2010 Rockets had ABS standard.

As far as the Touring, I have 2013 without ABS and I have seen 2013s with ABS so if you make a guess it might be pretty good. I have yet to figure out the rhyme or reason for what years got ABS.

If not a standard feature before 2010 is it possible ABS was an optional feature before 2010/11?

I have a 2009 R3 Standard that has factory ABS. Since I bought the bike as the second owner, I don't know if it was only available as an option but it does have factory ABS.

Please see my later post below for clarification. I was mistaken, I just checked and this R3 doesn't have ABS.

for 2012 touring
- phantom black metallic with hand painted silver plated thread
- two-tone phantom black with crystal white inserts

for 2013 touring
- metallic phantom black with red center stripes
- matt phantom black with white center stripes

ABS only appeared on Rockets with the launch of the Roadster in 2010. Most likely there are some Roadsters with 2009 build dates but they are nevertheless 2010 model Roadsters. No 2009 Standards came with factory fitted ABS. If you have a Standard (or Classic for that matter) with “factory” ABS (or any ABS) it was fitted by an enterprising owner.

For some reason ABS was optional on some early model Tourings and in other years it wasn’t available at all. It eventually was made standard but I’m not sure of the years.
