Best Tire Size for Handling

I looked at the chromes and I can buy two Exedras for the price of one chrome  How much gooder can it be? Keeping the exedras.

Depends on where you’re buying I suppose. I didn’t see that much difference between Bridgestone and Avon in price last fall when I bought my set of Chromes (bought from Bike Bandit). However, for the performance improvement the marginal cost increased was worth it.

Ok Jay I just checked and on sale the rear exedra max at bike bandit is 50 bucks more then at rocky mountain atv which has it for 146 bucks rounded up.. now rocky mountain has your rear cobra chrome on sale for 232.00 and bike bandit has it for 239.

So at the very least if you want to not get ripped off you should order from Rocky Mountain Atv. So I haven't experienced the cobra chrome yet. Is it better the the max ? well ya can't compare yours is a touring and you can't develop the down angle the regular rockets are going for. Plus I just don't lnow anyone who has tried to even see what mileage they get. I do like the fact you can get both max tires in steel belted radial for the touring. Where my only stock front is a bias radial. Anyway I am suspecting in my case with running the new Bridgestone Battle Criuse h50 tires longer lasting multi compound high mileage tires (like the cobra chromes) will end up being about the same. So the battlr cruise set is 265 from Rocky mountain atv. And 335 from bike bandit.

Anyway not trying to convince you to change tires but you might want to search around for a better price then bike bandit as they are usually higher price.

Me well try a cobra chrome there is no way it is worth that much more then the battle cruise tires so I'll put the extra money in the gas tank.
That being said I'm going to have to agree with 1k9 this time. ;) have a great day.

@warp9.9 , no worries. Shared passion, individual style. I really liked the Avons Cobras I had on my Valk and was looking for that feel again. I had the Battleax on my FJR sport touring and wasn’t as impressed with the performance on that bike, so I was a little biased as a result. As for Bike Bandit, I have had good luck on deals with them, but it does pay to shop around. At the time they were the best price I could find plus I had a good amount of Bandit Bucks saved up from a large parts order earlier last year. That of course helped my bottom line, but doesn’t really translate to savings for others.

Ive never run the battle ax before. In fact the only reason I am running their new battle cruise tires is I have a 18 inch 240 rear rim. Ran the cobras before the chromes not bad , cant speak to the mileage because well I had them on the falcon and well boost is hard on tires :D

I run a 140/75/ on the front and its great.I get slightly quicker steering, but the real benefit is ,i dont get shoulders worn in a bad way ,creating handling problems ,like i did on the 150/80.The tyre wears very even.On the Back i run a 240/55 Bridgestone Exedras and I am happy with that as well

You are not "going wrong".
Run the tire backwards on the front wheel.
Absolutely the best front tire I have EVER run . . . without a doubt!
I am the son of an Indian Dealer (1947-1953) and was raised around motors. I have been riding since 1950, legal on the road since 1962, and I ride pretty hard in the twisties. This tire (started 2 years ago) inspired so much confidence on this huge motor, I am in awe! Nothing wrong with a good quality 140/75R, but the Road 5 is at least 33% better! Thousands of sport bikes can't be wrong!

However, as the apple and the pear, those are both fruits, so the Rlll is not a sport bike:p Considering this and his Rlll is Sc, what about the savety of this 'front' Michelin tyre at 150mph + for that Rlll SC ? Try and error ?:D

OP here, my goal is finding tires that lessens the effort required to get the bike into a curve and maintain the curve without having to fight the bike's tendancy to stand straight up. My assumption has been that the effort it takes me to steer a Rocket is like everyone else's but maybe I am wrong. Compared to my Harley Ultra with Pirelli Night Dragons....well, the Ultra feels like it is on autopilot and rails with almost no effort by me to ride hairpins, long sweepers, or whatever. The Rocket by comparison requires conscious effort and pressure on the bars to get into and out of turns and curves. Counter steering on the Ultra and Rocket also seem to be two different animals. After 7000 miles on a new Exedra Max(240/55) and new Avon Cobra front(150/80) I am still not really sure if I am using the right riding technique. The Ultra requires very little if any shifting of body weight or pressure on the bars when riding the hills and mountain roads of San Diego County. The Rocket, well, feels very different and requires actual effort to stay on the road.

Certain that some tires are better for taking corners and may be idea for your type of riding pleasure but a set of Avon Chromes in the stock sizes are hard to beat for over all riding. Handling in all types of weather superb. Good mileage and excellent traction. Plus you get a set of matching tires front and back vice mixing brands and tread. Makes for a very smooth ride. Your wheel bearings will thank you. Stock size tires seem to make the wheel bearings last. Experience not math.
