Ideas to cover bear claw mounting tabs.

I was worried about rain when I installed my 4010s and couldn't find rain covers to fit . I rang KnN UK and spoke to a tech who said basically , unless your running a Jet ski or outboard motor , don't bother with them . provided the filters are serviced and oiled , rain ingress is minimal and minimal ain't too bad for a fuel injected engine !

What is the smallest K&N filter that will flow well enough for a 200+ RWHP Rocket?

No one has tested the 4010 filters as they are new but the good news is they bother are close is filter surface I bet the 4010 filters will pull 200 and then some. I would try them but they last so long its hard speculating when My 4040's will need to be replaced.

I smell possible trouble . . .

The 4010 is 4.44" DIA at its base - 4" at its top - with a 3.75" height.
The 4040 is 4" DIA - with a 4" height.

I question whether three of the 4010 base DIA will fit within the space of the 3 injector bodies?
Also the surface area of them are close, with the 4010 at 77.68 sq in and the 4040 at 75.4 sq in.
Both are HUGE SUCKERS!!!

Ok well i thought you were asking because not many use the 4010 yet. As far as I know nat above in post 11 has them and Dr.D has them on his beast

So, it has been done. Surprised their diameter fits in there.

I was curious about surface area, wanting to learn more about CFM necessary per HP.
Gratitude.

I never had a problem riding this in the rain, even very heavy rain for extended periods. As K&N say, keep it oiled and no problem. The advantage of course of a filter on its side is that when standing in the rain any water just fell out the bottom and not down the TB.

Diamonds...I recommend you use diamonds to cover those unsightly tabs. It's what all the truly discerning owners do. For example

They call that look or similar 'Toilet seat' celluloid or 'Cracked Ice' on vintage knive scales as it was a trendy look in the 30's, 40's and 50's for many items including steering wheels. Yuchh!
