What did you do to your Rocket today?

Got the call that "Black Mamba" was ready for pickup and I'm about to go get her.
$1,030.00 for new valve cover gasket, valve check & adjustment, trimming of front fork spacer (rework as Wilber Spring instructions were incorrect last year)
and brake fluid flush and fill. I won't be making that mistake again $$$

I will do the radiator service myself and replace the plugs before riding season.

The joy of getting your Triumph Rocket back.

1/17/20 UPDATE: Well, there is a good reason the wobble didn't go away.

Notice how it doesn't say anything about Resolution below - be wary my friends...

I stopped by the shop and the mechanic admitted that he didn't actually do ANYTHING to address my issue and mumbled something about not being able to test ride it due to the weather. They had the bike for two months and I told them I was in no hurry to get it back.

When I asked him about adjusting the head bolt he said to just flip up the gauges and tighten it to spec. Say what? I don't think so.

It seems the only certified Triumph tech is no longer with them. Yikes.

I spoke with the service manager and she took the $90 labor charge off my bill.

----------------------

I will definitely learn how to check/adjust my valves before the next 20K interval.
Here is what they charge in NY for anyone wondering.
$993 total including fork work, brake fluid renewal and $6 annual inspection.

They said 8 of 12 valves needed adjustment. $580 to fix the gasket leak and adjust the valves.

Sadly, they put the old plugs back in.

I did my first 75 mile ride of 2020 and it was running great although the wobble is not completely gone (moved from 47MPH to 33MPH).
Trimming the fork spacers dropped the front by around 1/2" and improved cornering.

The other 'weird' behaviour was not fixed with the work done though. That is, in 4th or 5th going uphill there is sometimes a very slight
but noticeable hesitation. Not quite a lag, more like minute mechanical clutch slip - it's hard to explain. Its somewhat random and might be more frequent
on left sweepers. I'll try to get it on a dyno in the summer.

My measurements were off at 3 and 7 degrees a tad I hope that did not mess you up

You were a little long on the bar end height and a little short on the pullback dims, but the resultant pullback was slightly more, which was whar I was after. I shall learn if enough when mounting.

Finally installed floorboards on my roadster. Only had to find Ned brake pedal spring and bolt, touring rear master cylinder, shifter bolt, fabricate bracket for rear brake switch and new brake line for replacement master cylinder. Took for test run and love the feel of floor boards.

Boy, of it feels like a momentary skip, keep an eye on the transmission, that's how mine started, but in second.

Well done! Nice little bit of fabrication. Floorboards totally change the ride.

Made it faster! Race vinyl out of Spain, black reflective . With pictures in the light black, in the dark reflective.

Refitted the wheel bearings, disks, ABS bits and new Bridgestone tyres (farmed that bit out ) to my newly powder coated wheels. Refitted the front and then it was wine o'clock and the wife was calling me for my tea so back will get fitted today.

Had an absolute tw@t of a time with front bearings for some reason even after heating wheel and bearings in freezer overnight. Think it was the bearing seat where he had blasted the wheel, smoothed it slightly, froze the bearing again and went in, though still took some oomph!!!

Back was a breeze!

Pics will follow once back is fitted today.

Wheels fitted, clear lenses fitted. I am being honest when I say I don’t immediately like them :) the colour, candy apple red, looks great in the right light but not today as it’s bobbins here. I kinda wish I had gone with my gut feeling and not listened to others but hey ho, you makes your choices eh?

I had blacked out the fork guards and fender emblem. Removing the wrap and putting them back to chrome made it look a lot better, lightens it up a bit. It looks better than it did. What do you think?

blacked out fork protectors and embellished doodad

then removed the wrap and think it looks better, breaks it up a bit.
