It’s growing on me!

this is what is on the R model i rode the other day here in Christchurch NZ.

I like better the back with smaller and round turn-lights.

Either the Triumph's but small ones not like those big ones :

but rather this type :

or probably better :

Besides the standard ones seem to be too easy to break : apparently because the lever is too long and with too rigid fixations resulting in being fragile if one hits them accidentally just by walking by. It apparently happened with the R of the shop as the right rear turn light was broken (when removing the cover) :

waiting for 2 proposals from 2 dealers; regarding the ceramic treatment paint I'd like to have on the 3 heat covers, one dealer tells me my first choice in red would be good but the other one believes that it'd probably be better to paint these 3 heat protectors (ceramic treatment paint) in black instead of red since the left side of the R3 R red has no red but gloss black around the engine.
I believe he's got a good point. Difficult to say before the final result. My initial idea was to put carbon covers like for the TFC but not available.

If I get the R3 R red and go for black for these 3 elements, it would not be so obvious to decide either : would it result better in gloss black like the elements on the side or in mat black like the end of the exhaust ?

If you want red, I'd think about having some of these left side parts done at the same time. Maybe the dark grey piece by the air runners and that little shield at the bottom right.

Good suggestion :)

I've just received the proposal for the ceramic paint treatment ; price is €200 for the 3 covers.

But since I'm no longe so sure of what color would result best, I've asked my wife (who knows nothing about motorcycles and not interested in them either) :

and she told me she prefers without any painting since the standard one makes her think of beautiful instruments (such as the large organs or the beautiful metal of brass instruments) !
She added that one would not think of painting such beautiful instruments !

So I believe that I won't do anything until I see one with this change eventually to be sure it'd be effectively better (or not).

Another alternative would be that Triumph or 3rd parties would come up with carbon elements like the TFC'.

I'll sleep over it and see !

Hey, I am getting my new Rocket 3R in the red tomorrow. I contemplated getting the covers painted gloss back to match the other parts on the lower end of the motorcycle. But have decided against it as well. It does look very attractive the way it is and might consider black maybe next year to change it up a bit.

I did add the knee guards. I like the look of the tank with the knee guards. It diffuses the otherwise bling red I feel.

....you know that feeling you used to get when a new girl came on the scene who was that little bit xtra than the ones you were used to.......thats how i feel about this bike....just want to keep going back for another look...

Remember the movie, Animal House?
Stop listening to the angel!!!

Good to know that I am not the only one wondering about this paint and finally left it on the side. ;)
For the knee pads, I've thought of it also and only for the look (contrast ref/black) but I'd have preferred this black as painting instead of pads (and no interest for the protection since I'll have it covered by a Suntek film).

Are you keeping the standard turn-lights and/or thinking of new ones e.g. Rizoma, Kellerman or these smaller ones vs the original ones from Triumph (exist also with multifunctions) ? :

Look forward your pictures. ENJOY !

I am sticking to the original turn lights. But we have the euro spec here in Australia. So they are slim. Seem flimsy but I'll wait till I break em.
