I will be receiving my brand spanking new rear Cobra Chrome tire from BikeBandit free of charge tomorrow by UPS. It took about a month to get this sorted out concerning the recall but A&S will be putting the new tire on hopefully by Friday. Approx. 1,300 miles on the front Cobra and a new rear. They should need changing at about the same time now.
I guess I'll call Bike Bandit tomorrow because they have been blowing me off about my replacement tire. Just talked to them last week and wouldn't even give me a month they might have them.

Go ahead and give them a call today as they should have all of the info they need from Avon. If not PM me and I will give you the Email of one of Avon's head guy. He will respond to you quickly. BikeBandit and Avon have both been very polite during the entire episode but very slow on collaborating. I think they have it together now.

Hi,

Does anyone change there own tyres (new tyres) I do this for sports bike but not sure about heavy duty tyres on rocket. I have good spoons and rim protectors (proper big ones) and the wax, and can warm the tyres up.

Anyone got any tips for these bigger/stiffer tyres

thanks

Have a shop do the tires. I do my dirt bikes and my older Honda street bikes. I also do my kids sport bikes. I wont mess with the 240.

I mounted them on my own replacing the Metzlers with the Cobra Chrome tires on my R3T back in October. Have put about 4k miles on them since. It was my first time doing them myself and not bad at all. I just used all the tools and followed the process in this video from Motorcyclist Magazine:

Tools were less than $200 total and essentially paid for themselves in that one change due to local charges at the shops just for mounting (silly East Coast prices). Only thing to really keep in mind is having the bead wet with soapy water when working it over the rim. I used soapy water and not Windex. Was concerned the ammonia of the windex would dry the rubber. The shops use soapy water anyway.

Next year I plan on trying out Dark siding now that I feel like a pro at busting tires off the rim.

From what I understand they are back up and running with new 240's and have been shipped to the vendors. My new 240 has a blue line offset from the center going the circumference of the tire. I don't know why it's on there but the one I bought 9 months ago didn't have it. PM sent a few ago.

I guess Jay did something right. I bought all the tools in the video and was ready to change my own. 10 minutes into it I knew no way was it going to be worth it to spend all day with that tire.
Loaded it in my trunk and off to Rocky Mountain ATV/MC I went. (I bought the tire there earlier, and they will mount them for $50 including Ride-on or Dynabeads).

So if you have your tools go ahead and give it a whirl. Just prepare a plan B. :D
