Can't read the oil dip stick

As a lad in the apprentice shop I could read a good quality Moore & Wright steel rule to within.005”. Nowadays I can’t remember where I left the bloody thing!

Those were good eyes, Duc.
I could usually tell if it was under or over .015, but that was best as I would trust.
In tool & dye inspection we has granite tables, set up blocks and all the measuring tools.
Was challenging, fun and satisfying work!

I’ve had the same issue checking clean oil. I had to use a paper towel see the wet line.
