Rockets aren't for everyone...

How can anyone buy a bike/car/truck without test riding/driving them first?????? I know some people do and if you do then do not piss and moan when you do not like it.

I bought my blue beast from the North Island site unseen took the word of the previous owner. Too good of a deal not to buy it.
I am a very Happy owner would never get rid of my Rocket.

Bought mine having only sat on one once but I got a heck of a deal it's been well worth the 5 grand I paid 8 years ago.

Certainly not the case here, and wouldn't have applied to the OP, but the dealerships around here for the longest time would not permit test rides.

I made a mistake buying my Suzuki V-Strom 650 having never ridden it, and when I sold it, I called the dealership and told them, "I will never buy another bike from you unless I can test ride it first."

I don't know that my call made any difference, but they have since changed the policy.

Statistics that are published are meant to educate a buyer about the motorcycle.
Things like wheelbase, rake, trail, seat height, weight, horsepower, ground clearance are things a buyer should know and understand.
All are indications of how the bike will perform and handle. While not perfect, they are excellent indicators that should enable an "informed" buyer to narrow down the best motor made for him.
A test ride may seal the deal, but IMHO is only the frosting on the cake.
For me a good sit and feel is usually enough. I don't test ride for many reasons. Tis somebody else's machine. The motorcycle is unfamiliar to me and I can't/shouldn't try to ring it out to determine its true limits. I would not want a perspective buyer abusing my motor.
Whatever you do, you shall find good, bad, and so-so features. Hopefully, the good things prevail, you are able to correct the bad, and all becomes happy trails . . . at least until the next motor boner comes along!  :D

I purchased my 2018 Rocket out of state only ever sitting on one. with what videos I watched on them and the great feedback from this forum . Never looked Back . No Regrets Love every minute I get to Ride her. still in aww. Such a great machine. That instant torque on demand is addicting. lol . I let my buddy that races a 600 hp Hyabusa was really impressed with it.

I got a kick out of the comments on this video and who buys a bike without test riding it first. Hopefully there are characters like this in my area so I can cash in on the discount...:D;)
I dont think anyone "bought" one of those without riding it. The Triumph deal was that you put down $500 which was fully refundable if you didn't like what you saw when it came in. Remember we were told this was a rare and wonderful bike ,so some may have thought that if they didn't like it they could sell their position in line kinda like you can with aircraft - maybe even at a profit if they didn't take the refund.

When I went shopping for my Rocket back in 2013, I had never ridden one, only sat on them and drooled. I was in a dealership with my son sitting on a 2014 matt black on Black Friday. Told the salesman I was interested and that it would be a cash deal. They wouldn't lower their price 1 dollar. This was in late November 2013 with snow flurries. Frustrated with him, I phoned another dealer across the province and asked if they had one available. They stated they had a 2012 Roadster with 0 miles in the showroom. We made the deal over the phone. They cut their price $4500 and Triumph threw in another $500 in accessories because it was an off season model. I never saw the bike or sat on it until early 2014 when I was down south for a bike show. The dealership let me go into the bike storage and sit on my Rocket. I couldn't stop grinning. I picked up the bike late March 2014 and trailered it back home. First ride was in April 2014 and haven't looked back since. Still have the same smile on my face today as that first day I rode it.

I can't believe this fellow was complaining about the size of the bike. You don't compare a Rocket to a Street Triple. Did he ever even ride a Rocket? Appears not.

When I bought mine, I couldn't "test ride" it either. Guy said "I'll Take You on a ride on it" I said "That ain't happening". My son started to laugh and I cut him off and said "well it's mine now" . 1st laid eyes on it and I knew I was taking it home that day. When you feel that kind of power it has .... gives you goosebumps. Never ridden anything like it. Sure, there are better, faster, lighter bikes out there and they can have them. I'll stick to what I know and the Rocket is it!! 'Course I do like the looks of the new Rocket, I'd like to "test ride" it first. The guy has a triple. fast & light bike. Rocket no where near the same thing.

You guys who buy sight unseen or by just sitting on a bike:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure::unsure::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
