Folks i have over 10,000 miles on a set of Cobra Chromes. You would think if the **** things were going to blow it would have happened by now. Ain't much else to say about it.

Kinda like saying, " I put one bullet in the revolver and fired the gun."
"You would think if the **** thing was going to blow it would have happened by now.

By far the best set of tires i have run on the bike. Good traction and handle well under all conditions. Have no idea how well they handle on a trailer while being towed. 100 degree plus and down to 20 degrees and less good tire. Believe Avon found a possible problem with about 160 tires and they called the recall. Sounds to me to be a outstanding company. Key word here my friend is possible.

I wish Avon would come out and say, Hey, get off your bike now and DO NOT RIDE another mile as it could go tits up. Or maybe, Hey, it's a small tiny .000001 chance in a million it will have any problems but NHTSA say's we need to recall a few but the ones we are recalling are probably okay. I would be good with that but we get a big nothing from Avon.

I have also covered 13000km with my chromes, the best configuration I have run on my rocket, I have run with the Excedra previously as well. The replacement rear Avon Chrome appears to have a slightly flatter profile then the first chrome with a little less tread depth toward the outer 1/4's. Already covered about 500km on the replacement tire.

I couldn't fault the first chrome and the second one seems just as good as the first I cant really feel any significant difference apart from the fact it feels like it already has a slightly worn tyre - maybe because of the lesser crown radius.

No complaints from me.

Just to let you know that the Avon distributer here wanted me to pay for the replacement fitting, but the dealer who fitted the first and the replacement said - No way the customer is paying. Oliver's Motorcycles here is Brisbane said to me that I wasn't to pay anything and they will chase payment for fitting from the importer/distributor - obviously Avon were not forthcoming with funds for fitting. HAs anyone else come across this, I am a bit surprised, maybe is just a local thing.

You talking to me!?

Not really. Just seems that folks want to bash Avons from what i have read. This that and about 20 other combinations of tires have been discussed on here which is a good thing. Tires and choices are up to personnel choice and how and when you ride. Some combinations may be great for that individual but the same combination may not be up to par for the next guy. Do i believe that there is a combination that fits everybody's style of riding? Fat chance of that. I like the Chromes very much. They handle great in all conditions that (I) ride in. Happy about the recall not at all. Will i replace the bike tire with another Chrome when available? In a heartbeat. Yes my tire is on the recall list. At 10,000 plus miles have had no issues. Getting close to the wear bars so it is getting around time for replacement. Front tire still looks new so ain't worried about that. Rolling the dice until a new tire becomes available possible. ;);););););)
