So where are the new bikes?

This is not the first time Avon has had issues The Original Cobra had a bad batch that caused them headaches. Only the big fat rear though.

My guess is a vulcanization timing/curing issue. I say my guess, but I've a mate who used to work at Michelin in France.

Steel belts? - who needs it when Kevlar and Dyneema exists.

sabugger tho' - I was thinking of fitting a set.

you should be good to fit some, the way i read it, it was only tires manufactured from the 8th april 2018 thru to 1st of june 2019.
I have Cooper tires on my 4x4 and they are really good tires...as we know, Coopers make the Avon Cobra Chrome.

Doesn't anybody reckon that the apparent shortage of such tyres for sale MIGHT be due to a big supply to Triumph for the launch stock of the new bikes??? Which would have happened fairly recently....

Ok. I'm going to post it here also. I have Over 10,000 miles on a set of Avon Chromes. Figure if they were going to blow would have done it by now. Never had a issue at all. Not worried about it.
I wish Avon was a little more clear or got involved and put out a statement on the tires problem and the % chance things could go bad. I have around around 3K on the tire if I remember correctly and I would like to keep it if possible.

......check your tire against these numbers if youre not sure.....

Cobra Chrome Tyre Recall
18 November 2019

Dear Customer

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. has initiated a voluntary recall relating to motor vehicle safety in certain Avon motorcycle tires, identified as follows:

Brand

Line

Size

DOT Tire Identification Code

AVON

COBRA CHROME

240/50R16

AT

6D

28

1418 -- 2119

The tires were manufactured between 8 April 2018 and 1 June 2019.

In order to determine if your tire is subject to the recall (and therefore, if you are eligible for a free replacement), you will need to locate the DOT Tire Identification Code which is located on the sidewall of your tire.

The following illustration shows how the DOT information appears on a sample tire. The affected DOT serial numbers are detailed in the above table (beginning with AT6D28 ---- and ending with a four digit date code (2-digit week and 2-digit year) between 1418 and 2119 inclusive, in this example 1019).

The affected tires may develop an in-service unsatisfactory ride condition or in certain cases, motorcycle steering or ride may be impacted. If undetected affected tires may develop an in-service innerliner degradation ultimately resulting in an increased potential of tire failure that could lead to the rapid loss of inflation pressure, motorcycle control, and increase the risk of a crash.

Driving at high speeds should be avoided until the tires have been inspected and replaced if they fall within the DOT tire identification codes shown above.

Please check your tire. This check should not take long to complete. If you believe you have an affected tire, please immediately contact the dealer from which you purchased your tires or Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd.'s customer care at tyrerecall@coopertire.com to arrange an inspection and a replacement of any affected tires free of charge.

If you have replaced an affected tire before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement. For more information, please contact Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. at tyrerecall@coopertire.com.

Sincerely

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd.

I don’t think tires are the reason for the delayed TFC.

I misspoke. I know my tires are on the recall. I'm smack in the middle of the numbers #3018. I just want Avon to tell us the extent of the possibility of failure or if it's a minor/major deal. The process that Avon (Cooper tyres) and BikeBandit is inconsistent and everyone is pointing at the other for payment, reimbursement and paying you back with a receipt from the shop that replaces your tire. You then lug the old tire to UPS and send it on it's way. It's a friggin pain in the ass and BikeBandit is still confused on which way to go. It appears it's a waiting game but the 150 day limit on reimbursement is ticking on.
