Brake bleed question

Hi Guys, I want to change out the brake fluid on my 2015 R3T over the winter. When I had my Valkyrie, I added Speedbleeders to the front and rear brakes and they made the job very easy.
I would like to put them on my Rocket. My question is, would the procedure be any different seeing as how my R3T has ABS brakes?
Is their a more comprehensive method needed, or would it be like before?
On my Valk, I simply removed the reservoir covers and loosened the speedbleeders a bit, and pumped the brake lever while adding fresh fluid in the reservoir until clean fluid came out of the drain hose connected to the caliper.

Thanks in advance for any help ,Eric

A simple "speed bleeder" is a check valve that prevents air back flow into the bleeder nipple. You can achieve the same effect by using a cheap squirt bottle handle and draw tube. Rubber band the trigger back and the internal check valve will allow fluid flow in only one direction, place the bottle draw tube end over the bleeder nipple and you have a cheap "speed bleeder." Pump the brake handle (pedal) and fluid leaves the reservoir and squirts out the spray nozzle (rotate that to a 'stream' setting). I can't answer for the ABS issue since I'm not sure how Triumph has that set up. However if you can pump the brake handle and push fluid out the bleed nipple it shouldn't have any deleterious effects (probably). Here's a video on a procedure for motorcycle ABS:

NOTE: Your onboard computer will likely need updating as mentioned in the video. Good Luck

One more thought: You may want to change your brake pads when you change your fluid. That will set your brake pistons to max withdrawal and prevent any over pressure from too much brake fluid (if you replaced them after replacing the fluid). As the brakes heat the fluid expands and you can lock the brakes without actuating them (a real bummer when your doing some sporty riding)

Well I did some more searching and I think I’m all set. I even found a thread that I had commented on. I had forgotten about it.
It looks like having abs really doesn’t change the way the speed bleeders would work.

I think you need a program like TuneECU to open valves in the system electronically, I would wait until someone more knowledgeable chimes in, maybe @Joesmoe or @Kevin frazier may know?

I've never heard of Speed bleeders till this post. I checked out some youtube videos on them. I don't have ABS and would like to get some for my 2010 Touring.
Does anyone know if all of the bleed nipples are the same size front and back? And what size?
I'll do some internet searching and I may find that out myself and post it here.

I just removed my speed bleeders! They check valve froze (2nd time)in the closed position, would not open! I put the originals back in. They (speed bleeders) are not really needed if you use the mighty vac hand pump and bleed both at the same time! Just keep a slight vacuum on the lines as you close the bleeders after changing your brake fluid. Ty rap the lever, check for leaks, remove ty rap the next day!

From the comments I read on ABS, the bleeding of the ABS system is optional because the brake fluid contained there is negligible. Also, the ABS bleed option in tune ECU only exists in the Android version of tune ECU.

Thanks for the info.

I have some on order. It will be worth it to me even if I use it a couple of times.
I found them at the source and this one fits the Rockets: Brake Bleeder / Brake Bleeding / Speed Bleeder Products / USA

One important note is you cannot use them on a new (dry) system. The lines must already have fluid in them when you swap them out. There will be a bit of leakage so have a rag and the new one ready to screw in when you do it.

This is the bleeder I purchased when I was having rear brake problems, it worked real well, expensive.
