Winter is coming in the UK..Hibernation time for the rocket.

The problem I find , is that the more expensive the clothing , the quicker I go through it ! I have tried it all . There is very little that can keep one warm and dry , whilst withstanding hauling 200lb lumps of stone around muddy trenches. I have a lad that works for me and I kitted him out with over £100 worth of wet weather gear .After moving 300 6inch conc blocks , his gear was in tatters . Add to that , the onslaught of hydraulic lime dust and disc cutter shrapnel and even the best quality gear disintegrates ! The answer of course is to find indoor work during the winter , altho this never quite works out . The hotter it gets , the more I find myself indoors and the colder and wetter it gets , the more I find myself outdoors . Just can't seem to get it right . Character building I call it ! :banghead:
I feel your pain brother. I rode my Rocket a few days ago and I started out and it was a freezing 69 degrees. I bundled up accordingly. Three hours later it only made it to 75 degrees. I know you think I'm super human for lasting 3 hours in the horrid elements but it is mind over matter. (You can call me an ass hole if you like, my wife does):sneaky:

No thank you my man. I'm a Native Californian. I'll take my cold mornings and afternoons any time over your traffic and bulkl****. When i ride it is wide open country not congested city riding. Don't even try the Northern
California line i know better. But then again you are more sophisticated and political correct out there so you will come back with a slick response but i know better. Place that in your pipe and smoke it. I have a degree in *******.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Sophisticated maybe, PC, no way. I would have fought you if you bad mouthed California 15 tears ago. You are 100% correct now. I was in the back roads early this morning about 50 miles out and there was relatively thick traffic on old out of the way 2 lane roadways. I realize it's Saturday but traffic was everywhere during my 150 mile ride. It sucks here. So many people and so mach traffic in back roads that nobody used 10 years ago. At least the weather is nice.

Get a new employee to bring you warm mugs of tea then, she brings her own work clothes!

Even better get a Welsh one to give you a Cwtch;):D:cool:

She can probably explain the T-shirt too!

The backside of Folsom lake use to be a good ride. Pictures my sister sent me recently of the area surprised me. Grown a lot in the last 30 years. :(:(:(:(:(:(

Funny you mentioned that. On my return from Placerville (old hangtown) I noticed a huge amount of new housing, Condos and businesses going up in all directions along side of SR 50 up to Sacramento. Up until the last 3 years or so building was slow. Now it's on fire and there is no where to run. If you haven't been here in 5 years you wouldn't recognize this 100 square mile area. It's gridlock.
