Rocket 3 2009
Hello everybody, my name is Max from italy

I bought a used R3 classic 2009 with 10.000 miles in May, I used since last week only riding 1000 miles in total, no problem at all, till last week, after a stop of 15 minutes I was unable to restart the bike

I pushed starter button 2 rev of the starter and all went away, it seems the battery completely coocked

I connect a car battery with car running but no way to start only a click (not so loud)

I was at my uncle home, I towed my bike at my home and perform some check

no fuse burns at all, all OK

analyzing with TUNE ECU there are several error code stored (before it was clean)

P 1552 cooling fan short open circuit, short circuit to ground

P1231 fuel pump relay open circuit, short circuit to ground

P0560 Voltage system malfunctioning, short circuit to ground

P0353

P0352

P0351

ignition coils 1,2,3 malfunction

P0203

P0202

P0201

Injector 1,2,3 malfunction

P0031

heater lambda sensor

short circuit to ground

open circuit

doing test with tune ECU

cooling fan test fail and cause a reset of the instruments

the same happen with fuel pump test

bike battery charged (no load shows 13 V), + car battery 100 Ah connected with car engine running

when I push the starting button the voltage over the bike battery drop down at 6,5 V (and click nothing else)

I test the relay (the 3 on the left side of the bike), are all the same, fuel pump, EMS, cooling fan

Coils resistance shows for all 3 above 700 Ohm (measured with tester in diod mode) is this it normal ??

Hi Massimo, our forum electrical genius is @DEcosse - This is one for you Sir!. He is based in the USA so probably asleep at the moment. Welcome to the forum and hopefully all will be sorted soon!
@Joesmoe - This thread needs to be allocated to the correct forum - your assistance please!

Thank you to all of you for your answers !
about fuse box I double checked it and all seems OK, no fuses burn or corrosion or melted plastic

Are you measuring voltage directly across battery terminals when you try to start. If it drops to 6.5V across terminals sounds like a collapsed battery that as internal issue. If measured not directly across terminal but at chassis could be a bad connection from battery to ground point on bike.

If the voltage is collapsing to 6.5V it says one of two things:
Your battery is no good
or ..........
Your motor is locked.

What is the voltage across the battery when you have ignition on (and headlights on)? (don't have car hooked up for this test)

For latter, be sure that the engine itself is not locked up (seized) - try rotating the wheel with bike in gear and see if it turns

Thank you all for your suggestion ! I'm going to check the voltage w/o any other batteries connected and light on before to push the start button
as well I'll go to measure voltage between + battery and chassis (not figuredout think about this... may be a good idea...)
I was measuring the voltage on the battery poles
I'm expect battery is for sure nearly died, but what I cannot explain myself is why with the car battery connected is not functioning
about the engine I don't think I'll be able to rotate the wheel with the bike in gear but I will try...
what let me worried are the 2 test with tune ecu (cooling fan and fuel pump) that when performed are going to reset the instrumentation cluster....
may be due to low voltage ? (test done with battery charger connected....)
do you have pictures about the connection I have to check ? I have the service manual but there are only electrical schemes not pictures to identify the cables connectors
