New Cams New Thread

Added all relevant valvetrain measurements on post #3.

Have developed and sourced my own (shim in Tappet) valve train dimensions that come in at 65.3g intake, 65g exhaust, creates more than 0.520" retainer to seal clearance (for big boy cams), uses steel everywhere so no more eating retainers, and raises installed height a ton which you can then shim to target spring rate. Will be using this on my second engine to validate it.

Nevilles setup is great and far more robust than the Carpenter design, there I said it. My design will use some of his parts and some of my own, not because it's better or cheaper, because I want to try my hand at designing my own parts:p.

Full valvetrain + cams will still come out about $1500 less than a carp 210 kit, is safe (safer even) to 9k RPM (not that I think 9k is a good idea on any 2294cc Rocket 3), and provide adaquet flow to make serious power.

Cams are installed and timed, just going to button it back up and make a "first start" vid this weekend... taking a break, as timing cams with their due precision is very detail specific obviously. Need a break.

Really excited to find out how accurate a couple things were on the dyno lol, 1: How much error did I input into the system?, 2: How close is it to my simulated model?.

Today's stopping point:

Need to do:
Wiring
Battery
Radiator/Fan
Coolant
Tank
Crank Compression Test

Not so much.

My work area is a war zone ATM lol. Giving it a good clean out tomorrow after I'm done.

Yes, that 10mm is a ninja.

I have no explanation as to why there's even a hammer near the bike lol.

Hey Rob,
Are you going up to Nels in the next few days (Mon - Wed)?
If so can you beg a spot for a tune on Chridtine's @Tbirdgirl R3R.
She has CES and Ram Air like mine.

IT LIVES!! (MORE TO FOLLOW)!!

First start uneventful :p. Now to let it cool while the valve springs finish their first head cycle.

So ****ing stoked, I don't think you guys understand what a **** show manually timing cams + manual tension adjuster + .1" removed from the cylinder head creates. Had to do the timing about 5 times before I was satisfied.
