Hey guys, hope all is well, not sure you'll even remember me after being gone for so long, but I hope you're all doing well. I still have my roadster...as well as a tiger 1200, just been spending a lot less time online the past few years...

I wonder if your collective brain matter could help...As much as I would love a custom 3 into 1 header and silencer setup similar to what Paul is knocking out I just can't afford it right now...but I have had enough of the OEM trumpets and want to reveal the rear of the bike tastefully but on the cheap for now.

In theory I could fit a simple stainless stubby can on the end of the OEM header pipe and use the existing RH shroud/shield to give a clean look. I've seen similar with the XB08 thing but I want to do it with a more open baffleless generic can you would find on a sports bike...

E.g. something like this:

Using a can like this:

Has anyone done it before? Any pics?
Any suggestion on a sensible can with the correct sizing to fit well?
Would it need a small link pipe to place a can in the correct place?

I assume there would be a TuneECU map out there which would match well enough for this with or without a ramair conversion too?

I'll look into making the spacer for the LHS after removing that mount...assuming this is doable...

Any pointers would be very much appreciated :)

Good luck. Whatever you fit up, spend the money to have it dyno-tuned for best results. Trying various maps off the web won't yield the result you want.

Put something like Triumph Rocket exhaust into google images and see what you come up.

I was more interested in seeing pics of what people on here may have done similar to what I am looking for, to get an idea and to help explain things more...e.g. link pipe, hanger placement etc....it seems that noone on here has done such a thing though...

Probably not. I think most of the owners who were serious about exhaust mods concentrated on getting rid of the factory headers. They are the weak link that strangles the engine.

Yeah, replacing it all is the long term plan if I can afford it AND justify the price tag, but I'm looking for something simpler for now...

If I remove the cat'ed exhausts and the pipes / splitter box underneath, that'll go a long way to removing a lot of restriction...I know the headers aren't equal length and balanced but I can worry about replacements with suitable and clean looking heat protection later...

On one of my RIII's incarnations I had a small Supertrapp silencer, but that was with a set of Predator headers, so apart from the silencer being small & neat I would have no info on how to fit it to the OE headers.
