What have i done?

A mechanic suggested cleaning out the gauze that filters the fuel. Is it better to remove the tank and pull out the fuel pump/sender ect or do it in situ?

IMO either will work but it's a lot easier with the tank on the work bench.
My Roadster doesn't have a gauze filter per se, but rather a steel cartridge type available at the car parts store.
How many years/miles on the bike?
You guys aren't cursed with ethanol in the fuel are you?

Mine is an 08 standard with 85000klms on it. I got it with 9000klms on the clock. Ethanol blend petrol must have the % displayed at the pump. I don't think it was very popular and not many have it now. It was never compulsory to use and the max they can add is 10%
I drive a diesel so I don't buy petrol very much and tend to buy it at the same garage when I do.
I'm not sure if mine does have piece of gauze over it, Im just going off the words of a bike mechanic, he does a lot of work on other Triumphs like street triples etc.

I suspect the packing inside my jards is too loose and exhaust is getting past the baffle and making it sound rough. I seem to remember having this problem years ago and repacking them made huge difference. I have them out now and just having a coffee break waiting for the shop to open.

Engine light went off a few minutes into the 3rd warm up as predicted. But it still has a problem stalling while idling until the engine is hot. When I increase the rpms to around 1500 I get a pop from the RH side of my jards. I repacked them but it was doing that before.

This is all started after I changed the plugs. I am still going to check the fuel filter.

I sorted it out. I pulled all the spark plugs out and one of them was completely closed up. I remember dropping one but I also remember checking it so I am a little mystified.
But overwhelmed with emotion that its fixed. :smoking:

Thanks to those who offered advice. I'm not 100% happy with how its tuned so am looking at that in the near future, but at least its as good as before I touched it.

There is a guy in Toodyay who has a dyno and can do wonderful things to Rockets. Can't find his name at the moment.

This advice from NEV LUSH. Give Dave Barwood a call on 0438 420 380 he is in Toodyay. Owns a Rocket and pretty much only does them. Knows Tuneboy. Is known for using his motorcycle rather than going to the coffee shop and showing off.
