This sensor... does it have a gasket?

Every summer, this crankcase sensor seeps oil when it's hot out (ambient temperature). I've tightened down the two little hex bolts but do not want to tighten anymore; due to fear of cracking the sensor itself.

Can this sensor be simply unbolted from the crankcase; cleaned and a new gasket be affixed to it? Or does it take an O-ring? (sensor is in center of picture)

Just answered my own question. Crankshaft position sensor. Takes an O-Ring. Found it on Bike Bandit. Crap...

Guess I'll put a shopping list together and order a slew of other parts... I'm thinking a clutch lifter piece and shaft (thicker one), as well as a primary TPS (new style) should be on the shelf as well. And a new gasket for the front engine cover...

My Rocket is needy this summer... but I love her.

Will that is not the crankshaft position sensor it is the gear position sensor it tells the ecu what gear it is in plus the Neutral location.

Thanks Scott. Trying to interpret BikeBandit.com part schematics can be trying at times.

Does this gear position sensor also need an O-ring as well? Or is a gasket required?

There's an o-ring on them alright, changed a few sensors :-(

Right you are... items #13

I'm heading to Frederick today; hopefully the Triumph dealer up there (Fredericton Yamaha) has these O-Rings in stock. It's absolutely ludicrous to pay 5 times more for shipping, than the cost of an .84 cent item

Though last time I went to that dealer; he severely ripped me off for the price of a couple of cotter pins... and I vowed I would not come back. :-x ...but that was years ago... we'll see...

I stand corrected Will it does have a O-ring on her it just sets on the small diameter and compresses in the bottom of the out put drive case counter bore. Perhaps yours needs to be tighten up a little to compress the O-ring. The sensor in your diagram is close but missing one of the diameters.
