Burnt a(nother) hole in my right pant leg - ideas ?

Try 1/8" diameter SS welding rod bent to parallel the center line of the pipe and attach under one of the heat shield screws and the other end to the muffler clamp bolt. Keep the wire about an inch or more away from the pipe. It is enough to prevent incidental contact of your pants or rain gear but remains un-obtrusive.

You can buy a cheap brake tube bender at the auto supply store and with pliers and side cutter you can make the part. Welding shops or welding supply houses will sell you 304/308 or 316 ss filler rod by the piece. Each piece is about 24" long so likely one try per rod. (Get several as you will need them before you get a satisfactory part made.)

Never mind the pants---you put your kickstand down at a light:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: first time I have ever heard of someone doing thato_Oo_O

Riding with Pattick @albertaduke one hot sommer day we were in stop & go traffic.
At every stop I watched him, with his left foot down, place his right knee and leg up onto his seat!
I had never saw that before and remember wishing that I was that flexible!
I use an ankle to knee leather leggin that incorporates a heat shield sewn in between two layers of leather into the critical area. Never an issue and never a burn to my clothing or leg!

My wife made a “sleeve” out of ironing board cover material that I can slide over my rainsuit pant leg. Works like a charm!
Great idea - but use the whole board! ;):D

This one would be the right size and shape but may need to put foil tape backing on to prevent charring!;)
