Damaged crankcase with pictures -- FIXED

I’ve patched up similar damage only to have the part fail again because of weakness/unseen damage in the area around the break. How do you test cast aluminum for cracks that aren’t visible?

While searching whether the Rivco center stand would work on a R3T, I came across this: . Could this be adapted to work as a center stand by adding a spring to keep it up, and adding something to push with the foot to get the bike up on it? What does the collective mind think?

Or a bit of 4x2

X-rays, electron microscopes. You know - stuff everybody has lying about.

I've just been looking at mine. A piece of 2" x 3/8" thick approx 16 1/2" long steel. Drilled to attach to lower rear engine mount bolt and lower front engine guard bolt. Drill and tap to mount side stand bracket. There is approx 1 1/4" clearance to to the gear-change rail. Some shims may be necessary to line it up . Also the rubber pad that the kick stand hits will have to be relocated. Should be cheaper fix than new cases. Good luck.
