The real problem with the starter relay - starter mod issue

Good suggestion JJ - in the other thread I answered that the clutch switch would likely be OK, because the KeyLess was energizing - but with your post I recognize of course it only takes the briefest of momentary connections for my KeyLess to turn on, but has to be constantly made for the starter to work.

I did try exercising the clutch switch - no joy.

Now rigging cables from my BOLT to the Rocket to see if the availability of extra amps might point to a problem with the battery and/or connections.

I don't know if there's an explanation for it, but I noticed that since I put the keyless ignition in, it seems to start instantly, I don't even hear the starter crank.

Chalk up another one for 'check the battery first'.

Followed @DEcosse suggestion to jump the bike with a car battery, and BINGO . . . bike started right up -- and I second @Tripps impression that it starts "instantly" with the DEcosse Keyless ignition.

I had the same issue...saw a thread about holding the starter button whilst slowly letting out the clutch until it fires. With my clutch fully pulled in the switch would not make...removed and cleaned and lubricted and all working again.
Did the same at first it worked out fine but over time started to screw up again. $154.00 dollars later new switch no issues.

You just reminded me, I had to do the same thing on mine once, a long time ago.
