I have the early model oil pan that has has two threaded holes on the right hand side with plugs in them. I never really traced out the oil path but wondered if they were put there for an oil cooler that was later deemed unnecessary.

I am not sure you need it. With many machines I'm involved in at the salt, Lake Gairdner, it's always hot, like 45+ and more in the sun, never have trouble. The very high speed does a good job of cooling. Not what one expects. Last year we had a gsxr which is heavily modified, close to world record speed. In the almost fifty degrees radiator was coming in at 80. Best power is at 85. Very dry air as well. I've had S/C rocket spend a week there with no issues... My HO is, spend your effort in getting grip.

The master has spoken and I agree.

From experience with my almost stock Rocket and other bikes ridden on the BSF, a spinning (slipping) tire is normal. It is one of the biggest factor in attaining speed. Most BSF riders agree to an estimated 15% loss in speed due to drive tire slip. I have to say that my rear tire (Avon Cobra) spun up (slipped) on me when adding more throttle at 100, 125 and 140 MPH on the salt. It was a first experience for me and somewhat unsettling. Although the Rocket took it like it was made to do it.

Keep in mind the salt is wet. It acts like slushy ice/snow. It is like millions of tiny crystal ball bearings all under your tires.

Going out on the salt.

Coming back in.

Covered with salt. It is like ice/snow and really cling on. Have to go to a pressure washer to get it off.

It would be awesome if some Billionaire would build us a racing track park with a 5 to 10 mile high banked oval, a multi turn loop like Nurburgring, and a 10 mile straight away for land speed racing. I would be a regular customer.

Let me see what I can do. Where do you want it ?
