Ok here is my growing concern.

I will need to replace my sidewinder de-Cat exhaust system with a Triumph CAT system. The thought police are coming and both noise and emissions testing could leave me with a bike that I will not be allowed to ride.
With this in mind I would like to have the option to fit the symmetrical 2 pipe (built in CAT 2209801 & 2209802) exhaust system from the roadster onto my Classic 2006.
Is this possible - it looks like I would need the brackets as they are different from the 3 pipe original system (2208614, 15 & 2208420)

Apologies for discussing a Classic problem in the Roadster forum.

I have also been looking into retro-fitting an inline CAT into the sidewinders which would be my optimum choice. Has anyone else tried anything similar?

You could fit the entire Roadster system, mufflers (that weigh a ton) Muffler mounting brackets and cross over pipe to your '06.
This entire assembly will slide straight onto your stock header, and bolt up to the stock passenger footrest mounting point
The R/H bracket on the Roadster cross over pipe won't line up with anything but that's a small issue.

Another option - though maybe a bit expensive - There are a few European Exhaust mfrs that make EU certified replacement pipes - these have cats in. Zard is one that springs to mind. I know your pain - I have to refit the OEM pipes every MoT (thankfully here that is every 2 years).

Thanks Paul, Triple Trouble and Barbagris,

You all are stars thanks, I think that the posted part number silencers have the CAT fitted inside them, and yes I do like the Zard system but it is too expensive for me to get past the wife.

Paul, I see this is an old post but hope you can answer my question. I’m also thinking if installing Roadster mufflers on my 06. Will I need a new tube?

Tune not tube.
