Shooting the tube is what we used to call it back in the day going through the Callahan Tunnel in Boston on my Honda 750. Built as part of the Big Dig in Boston the O'Neil Tunnel was opened in 2003 since it has been open over 13 bikers have been killed riding through it including a police officer. I've ridden through the tunnel many time on the Rocket it's a winding tunnel with a few curves. I've yet to see it not crowded, over 200,000+ vehicles travel through it a day. The fastest one can go most of the time is 40+- mph. These two had chance to full throttle it at 2 AM when it was pretty clear of traffic. My guess speed and traction played a big part in their demise. They both hit the retaining wall which had a controversial railing that has killed other bikers. I've never seen such carnage as what happened to these two. Ride safe out there..!!

I live in central Mass, just south of Worcester. Saw this on the news. Apparently they were bar hopping earlier, so I’m sure beer bravado and speed had a lot to do with this. Probably excessive speed and screwing around in the tunnel, wheel stand or similar and oops, someone made an error and took out his friend in the process. Sad and gives us all a bad name. Young, dumb and feeling invincible.

Wow, I must have been living under a rock the eight years I was there - never heard of such. The traffic was enough I never rode my motorcycle in Boston.
