So- what's the deal with the new Rocket? Are they all going to have the 2.5 litre engine with six speed tranny and single sided swingarm? What's the story about the special deluxe custom? Limited production and special golden dollars to purchase these? Not having paid much attention, I'm just curious, and still pretty happy with my first generation July 2004 minted standard.

If past behaviour predicts future behaviour the only difference between the TFC and extended production version will be paint colour. The rest will be carbon fibre parts that can be optioned or purchased through triumph parts.

I've done some poking and looking around.

There are at least 2 different sets of bars.
There are mid and forward controls in production/testing.
The wheelbase is indeed shorter, by the looks of it doing some image manipulation, I estimate 3-5" shorter.

Thoughts and Concerns:
- The lean angle sensitive traction control is specified, but cornering abs is not. That's a subtle hint that there is no 6 axis IMU in use. If they were using the 6 axis IMU, I cannot fathom why it wouldn't be featured everywhere in the marketing.

- The bars are lower and further forward on the bike, the seat is higher and further forward. It will be a decidedly more aggressive rider triangle, more like the Speed Triple than current rocket. They're also wide and fairly straight, like the T-Bars so many love, that'll translate to low effort steering and high agility.

- The engine sits slightly further back and is indeed longer than current. As some have mentioned it has no "drop" protection like our current peg rails. Don't drop this bike. It also appears to have an integrated oil cooler under the radiator.

- The new helical gear transmission... @warp9.9 is the expert here, but, the new Euro regulations required quieter bikes. Going Helical should allow the trans to runs a good bit quieter and smoother. Of note, helical gears create side loading axially, is it possible through design they may have harnessed this axial load to keep the gears engaged firmly, providing the same effect as a back cut spur gear/dog ring setup? I can't wait to see the guts of the trans design, I have no idea if what I'm suggesting is even possible, but, it would certainly be a nice benefit.

- It looks like the new frame does not have a spine running over the motor. All the media I can find says the engine is a stressed member, but, it appears to be more of an integral member ala Ducati Panigale.

- The three exit exhaust has to have a very restrictive and probably heavy cat in it since we know it's both quiet and very eco-friendly. I'm going to guess there's a "cat box" in roughly the same position as our bikes. Now, that suggests a few things: 1) It's heavy, 2) it's restrictive, 3) the 2500 bikes will see strong gains with a good exhaust once a fueling solution arrives ala PC-V siilar to the 2300 bikes. If the same -23% whp gain holds out, the 2500 will be around 180whp.

- showa 47mm forks... Mixed feelings here. Guaranteed to be a step ahead of our current OEM forks, but a small step or a large will depend on their choice of valving and spring(s). Based on history, it's likely sprung for a 180lb rider at most and knowing Showas non-BPF offerings, the adjusters will be mostly placebo with relatively good damping rates stock until pushed into race track like service.

- COLORS are back!! I've seen red, black, silver, and tri-tone "in the wild pics". Wahoo!!

- at least 3 exhaust finishes have been made and at least 3 wheel finishes as well.
Wheels seen: Raw Aluminum like current, machined face, and all black.
Exhausts: All black, mixed black/polished, and all polished.

- There appears to be a taller windshield instead of the fly screen in 1 pic I've found ala the current "sport" screen. Paired with promised hard bag attachment points and the spotted forward controls it appears we'll get a "touringish" model, at least.

Did this after chatting with a bloke from the UK at a Triumph Rally in February this year. Tal & I saw a photo of him sitting on the TFC
The morning after it was ridden across the stage.

If we believe what he said the bike is 250-300mm shorter 40 kgs lighter.

Engine block smaller in length and width and height.

Power is 185HP.

And 3 different bikes are to produce.
Just saying.

Can verify that....he was from Hinkley...had retired but they have given him off and on work...he was high up in Hinkley and was here judging bikes in the show...
The other thing he said was "It goes like a bloody Rocket!!"
We havnt mentioned this too much out of respect to his wishes.
