Hello Lasse79, I run the Bridgestone Exedra Max tires on both. I get around 13K miles per set and love their wet road handling.
WOW there ya go 13 k miles guess that proves my 10 k mileage is not the best you can expect if your a good rider and know how to manage tire wear SO all you ground pounders that get 3 K out of your tires need BOOG to give you riding lessons LOL

Hi.

What tire you recommend to Touring ? I have used Metzeler Marathon, but in my opinion, they seems to be more low quality now a days than in the past. What do you think?

I just replaced the factory Metzelers with Avon Cobras and I really like the difference it makes. The bike handles better now. It takes turns better and it takes bumps better. My wife is often a passenger and she noticed a big difference in the ride. Another thing that I really like is that it handles road snakes much better than the Metzlers. On a 6,000 trip last year, I got to the point that I avoided road snakes, etc., with the Metzelers because they could throw the bike all over the road. The Cobras are hardly even affected by most road snake, cracks in the road, etc., so I usually just ride over them now and don't even notice them.

I can't compare the Avons to any other tires except the Metezlers and I don't know what mileage I'll get out of them. I chose them based on threads on this site. For me, it was really a toss-up between the Bridgestone Excedra Max "V" tires and the Cobras because of the positive comments about them here. The deciding factor for me was the tread pattern. The Bridgstone's have a wavy groove in the center of the tire and I though that might make it more sensitive to road snakes. (That's just a guess.) Also, that groove looks like it might not be good when going over metal grid bridges such as those on the inner lane of the Mackinac bridge which I'll be riding over this year. It seems like the inner (paved) lane is always closed when I go over the bridge. Avon specifically claims that Cobra tires handle road snakes and metal bridge grids very well.

I didn't choose the Michelins for the simple reason that I wanted to stay with the factory recommended sizes. I've used Michelin tires and all my other vehicles for over 40 years and they are fine tires.

Beyond Metzeler's, I've run Bridgestone's and than Avon's...and I whole-heatedly concur with your Avon's assessment. They are the only tire I plan on running now.

Not sure if Shinko is popular over ther. I was pleasingly surprised by how planted to the ground I felt after changing from cobra to it. Only been running few hundred km but really like it and it's also ultra value for money. Can't comment on the mileage for now. Shinko SE890 journey

Living Legend! Jey is your post true for R3T with ABS? I was reading that I'll have issues with the ABS working properly with anything less than a 140 front? I can't even find a manufacturer who does 140 front specifically.

Michelin Commander ll's 130-90-16 front 180-65-16 rear they handle good and great milage.

Anyone running bias tires on their rocket? Seems like the sizes I'd like to switch to are all in bias ply which is not recommended for the rocket. Wanted to go with 130-90-16 / 180-65-16 They should really make more sizes in radials

Great tire, best price, as good as any expensive stuff. Have one on the Valkie and one on the R3

I put the Avon Cobra 140 on my Roadster and it made a big difference in how the front end feels and fast or slow turning. I highly recommend the smaller front tire.
