2013 Rocket III Touring
Hi folks. Bought a 2013 R3 Touring direct from the dealer and was disappointed with the power. A local performance shop dyno check measured only 88HP at the back wheel. Turns out, the secondary throttle plates are limited to 40% opening on the touring model. Luckily, the 2013 and older R3 tourings can be remapped thru the OBD port. Without any physical modifications, we achieved 120HP and 130ftlb torque (at the back wheel). Some D&D slip on exhausts (easy install) allowed us to finish with 128HP and 151ftlb of torque. Again, this is at the back wheel!! Note that the torque curve is insane and jumps up to max at only 2500 RPM. 1000lbs total with me and the misses and it tries so hard to pull up the front end... we have spun the back tire a few times on the straight and narrow roll ons. It is an amazing drive that puts instant torque at your command at low RPMs. I have gone through three back tires in 20K:) Would not trade for but another R3... Cheers...K&N...

And a K&N filter.......BTW, Drove from Ottawa to Windsor last year (7hrs ish). Was keeping full pace with a 600cc ****** rocket thru TO:). At the red lights, the torque and acceleration of the R3 surprises the ******rockets off the start and by the time they roar past at 7000rpm, they're speeding:)

WELCOME to ya, from WA State!
I never tire of reading a newby freshly ecstatic with his new Rocket!
3 rear tires in 20K miles is about right, but I do not know if the smaller R3T rear tire wears faster than the 240 of the Roadster.

Welcome from Kemptville. If your running Metz for tires, that's average mileage. Lots of tire threads on the site, I went with the Bridgestone Ecedra Max 200 rear, and Avon Cobra front, did 5500kms in one trip out to the east coast , lots of tread left. I found this site right after I bought my bike, almost returned it because it was gutless, found the Touring deristricting thread, and have never looked back. Fantastic people on this site, and lots of input and shared knowledge for improvements and mods. Now....if the snow would leave...:(

Salut K , Welcome from Montreal. Bienvenue. I've a R3T 2012 I only got 103.8 Hp & 148 ftlb of torque. Max output at 2200 rpm. Will be going to a different dyno the spring to compare one dyno to another.
