An earlier run down the Blue Ridge.

We'll be staying in Cosby TN the week before Maggie Valley and probably be in MV by Sunday 15th.
I am trailering down and might Bring A Norton Atlas or Commando along for a bit of fun in the twisties.

Yes ypu teo woll look great in the twisties on one of them. I'll be on the red lazyboy recliner :)

I'll stumble home with you. Just booked a room there myself. Glad to hear that it's a decent place.

Always good to have a mate to assist in the stumbling. I believe there will be three of us staying there including Ogre and T.

Triple Trouble, as an old Brit bike guy I'd love to see your Norton. And on the Blue Ridge, I've done it many times and am tentatively riding down with Paul but, oh well, another ride on the Blue Ridge is always an option. I believe I'll probably be back there for about three weeks riding my son's Rocket so all options are open. I mentioned earlier that I have a good friend who lives in Asheville NC so will be stopping by to see him.

And Mully, I got a single Queen. I'm fairly undemanding as to accommodations. When my wife and I travel together, we go top drawer but me, well, a clean room, semi-comfortable bed, no bed bugs and a a couple of clean towels is all I require. I guess one could say, a room just a cut above camping.

My original plan was to camp, because I enjoy it and I'm cheap, but I considered the possibility of setting up in rain, having to break camp early before the ride, etc. For those so inclined there is an RV site across the road that quoted me $55/night for a tent site- just FYI.

Dragon Day??? Thursday 6/20
(Weather permitting)

T & I & Tribal Jim are reserved for 6/20-6/24 @ Travelowes.

But I see a lot of you will be there by 6/19.
Prob'ly even more arriving on 6/20.

Just throwing this out as an idea that might be doable...as many interested parties as possible meet @ Deals Gap store say between noon & 1 pm. Do some Dragon then group ride back to Maggie Valley (for checking in or returning to room).

(I try to avoid the Dragon on weekends and holidays.)

Would like to join you guys. I plan to drive from Monroe La. to Maggie Valley the 18th. Should arrive sometime late afternoon. Could drive the 17th and get one more day in. Also have the week after that before heading for Jacksonville for a 4th of July Celebration. Then head back to Houston.

I understand the allure of the Dragon, especially if you've never done it and are in to trophy T-shirts or stickers, but most locals will steer you to better rides, perhaps with less well-known bragging rights. The last time I was there (and probably final time) was a weekday and I only saw one other rider on the route (weird) that I caught up with at the end. What I did see soon enough, through the trees on a bend ahead, was a black and white cruising the route obviously looking for someone getting frisky- and on a low turnout day like that. I forget the speed limit now (it's been lowered), but it's way too slow for us straight and narrow law abiding citizens.

My point is that unless you're willing to risk a ticket in the most likely place to get one, the road is reduced to a bit of a kiddy ride, in my opinion. Many times you'll end up stuck behind some popular cruiser brand rider that is gripped just to be on the ride at all.

I'm fairly local and I've done it several times, so I'm not judging, but really when the locals tell you that there are better routes out there- it's really true.
