I admit, it is about an off-topic bike (Road Glide) but I figure is will help the Rocket touring crowd as well

Question?
Do you ride with a backrest, how much do you like/dislike it? Would you pay an extra $250 for it?

Is this supposed to be a link re an Non-Triumph* bike (Road Glide)

*Anything m/cycle related goes in BearClaw Corner:cool:

Most of us who do, like them a lot and did spend at least that for the pleasure!

Utopia, Corbin, Fehling or Triumph factory?

Some of us have made our own too and I am currently putting together a few to go with the three Triumph factory seats with the hole for rider's backrests. Two for Tourings and one for the Std/Classic/Roadster.

It depends on your height weight and leg length too with Utopia better for BIG people as the Factory ones tend to place you a little lower and more forward when using on a Roadster. May suit fwd pegs of the early R3 it was designed for better. Good if your not much over 6' or have long legs.

Corbin has good adjustability but if buying a used Corbin seat be aware some were made for short people with bigger and deeper bolster on lowered seat cushion to push rider fwd and down. There is a link on the Corbin website explaINING HOW TO ORDER AND EFFECT WITH PHOTOS. i HAVE POSTED IT IN A THREAD HERE BEFORE. aRHH CAPS KEYS:banghead:

Fehling with domed pins i added...
Really good to lean back on and to carry stuff you might need.
The stock saddle fits there too..

My softail had no back rest. I carried a sleeping bag everywhere, great backrest.
My rocket has one. Converted the touring seat to the standard, just for the back rest.
Wouldn't ride very far without it

It took me a bit to get used to climbing on the bike with the backrest. And mine is the oem touring adjustable so it will spring forward to get my leg over it. I'd have a hell of a time if it was fixed in it's position.

I have a Mustang seat with backrest on my Ultra and a Utopia backrest on my Rocket. Both fold down forward on the seat to make getting onboard easy. I can ride 5 or 6 hours a day with them installed.....otherwise my back would start to ache within an hour or so. My theory is that my 6'3" height and/or my 250 lb. + weight causes my back problems on bikes. The other 5 or 6 guys I ride with every week are under 6 foot, also in their 70's like me but do not need backrests......they aren't porky like me either. :(
