Gear Lever Adjustment

Yeah, Scott said they would, and I transferred the running boards and shifter from my 2010 R3Touring, to put on my 2007 Standard. He said I might have to also transfer the brake line. I did, and love the floorboards. I have never gotten use to a heal, toe shifter, so I took the heal part off of the shifter. I used a lot of parts from my Touring, seat, crash bars, back rest, screws (don't know how I keep losing them, I think I will check Scott's pockets). Next is the engine.

Ya alit of fellers cut the reat heal portion off. The touring heal/tow set up will fit our bikes also including the floor boards and rails.
Wow, thank you for that info, but just to confirm that the heel and toe shifter from a rocket 3 touring will fit our classics. You wouldn't happen to know the years that fit? At least this gives me a possible larger source to look at. Thanks.

All are probably the same, I never use my heel shifter anymore, number one suspect in my transmission failure, no feel, missed a gear a couple times and ground them. If it was the dead of winter I'd consider swapping you, I never got around to cutting mine off.

Yours if its like kens 2010 touring is two piece you can simply take the heal portion off.

I had a pair of riding boots with the same issue, HD harness boots with steel toes.

When adjusting mine I disconnected just left the bolt out and tried it one tooth at a time sitting still until it felt right. On your bike you’ll have a wider range of adjustment before the linkage and the shift arm interfere, Roadsters have a fairly small adjustment range.
Do I have to pull the gear shift lever and rotate it, reattach, then adjust the linkage or can I just adjust the linkage? Sorry kind of a newb when dealing with this stuff.

Rotating the selector is the easiest way to move the pedal up slightly. The stock linkage doesn't have much room to adjust, the threads are pretty short. So try moving the selector level one notch. It may change how shifting feels.

I have a 2014 R3R and was having hip pains so replaced the pegs and rails and all the associated bits with the pegs and rails from a 2007 standard. I then put kuryakyn 7916 floorboards on.
When I have my boots on I was unable to get the toe under the shifter so I rotated the lever on its spline to give clearance but this then made 1st to 2nd shift extremely hard and other gears only marginally better. ( I think the angle and lever moment were in a poor position). Thanks to this site I found that 1olbull had fitted a Thunderbird pedal which I procured and have since fitted.
Gear shifting is now light and positive and a pleasure with the added benefit of no pain.
So thankyou all

Al

My 08 classic has the heel toe shifter and boards and I love it..its the first time ive ever used one... Boards are a little flat for me and I was wanting to adjust them up for more of an angle to make it better for my feet... but they don't appear to be adjustable.. but apart from that they are great!

I’m a real enthusiast but utterly crap wrencher and I adjusted mine just as Clav said. Didn’t need to tinker with cable just moved the lever notch by notch till ok. Easy even by my standards!
