Can you just drill and cut the claw without damage to the chrome? Just put it on a drill press and go at it? I want to do just a few dozen holes of different sizes. I till be a Champaign bubbles claw. :laugh:
 
Oh man. They look nice! I'd do that with the stock filter still under the seat. Well, first thing I did was replace the paper stock filter with the K&N, but still....

You could, but getting through the chrome initially will be difficult (but not impossible)
The trouble will be that you will have bare steel through the hole, which will rust at a later date.
Also the chrome my chip or peel.
The worst case scenario would be that would have to get the bearclaw re-chromed.

How about spray paint if it starts to rust?
