Bought a non runner in Vancouver

Yup I'll look into that. Was also reading on here regarding the Toyota Camry starter motor swap. There are quite a few in the local pickapart and starters are on sale this week for $22. Might pick one up and screw around with it.

Going to take my new battery back. Pretty sure it's a lemon. I charged up the old battery and it holds voltage during cranking much better.

I just did that Toyota swap last week and am very happy with the performance.

Replace battery with the highestCCA you can afford and have it tested before you leave the shop

How about if you get some old jumper cables or welding leads some battery clamps and hook it up to a car battery?

whenever i would replace a starter i would check them like that but that is all it is is a test when it gets loaded by the engine that is the real test.
if i had it out then i would upgrade to the bigger starter.

That"s the only way I can get it to fire up.

Inside of the starter motor looked fine. Nothing like Mittzy posted. I did go get a starter out of Sienna mini van at the wrecker today. Swapped it over. Seems to turn over better but still isnt my issue as it still wont start on its own. Took the battery back to the shop and they charged it overnight and said it tested fine.

Sounds like you have a voltage drop going on somewhere...... try this
Use the positive jumper lead on the positive side of battery and the other side to a small flat blade screw driver and insert the screw driver into the black terminal on the starter motor - this will bypass EVERYTHING - WARNING MAKE TRIPLE SURE THE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL cos if this works it will turn the engine over - if if this works then you know to look at everything except the battery and starter motor. This is not relay safe so make sure the bike can’t fall on you or move etc

So bike is eating ****loads of coolant through the combustion chamber.

Went for quick rip the other night and had the temp light come on. Coolant level was very low. Topped it up and turned the bike over, pushed all sorts of steam/white out the back and now wont start. Nice puddle of coolant sitting on the floor today coming from the header/x-over pipe union. Guess this explains my low compression on hole #2. Going to do another comp test but doesnt look good.

Head gasket is for sure cooked. That plug is hole #1. Was coolant on the plug in hole 6 as well. She ****ed.
