@Grant cook My suggestion, after seeing the damage living in Hawaii did to my rocket within 90 days of purchase is....
Powdercoat anything made of metal that is chrome and powder coat the wheels. They can still look exactly the same, just using powder, then you just wipe clean and move on
I had rust on bolts, all chrome, wheel damage etc in only 3 months.

Was thinking the same. Aluminium Oxide is an excellent anti-corrosive surface and can be very tough. It's why we anodise stuff.That's debating on how you look at it.
Pitting often occurs because the surface is soft lacquered or painted. It gets chipped - salts and water get in and under and then are not dried off. Made worse by covering bike up. I lived by the sea (and parked at work almost in it) in the UK for ages. Collect natural rainwater (Thanks to my dear old dad) and rinse at least weekly. Even 1970s Guzzis resisted rust and salting.
And if you do not use the bike often - get the inside of the tank resin sealed.
I confess my experience of powder coating is less than positive. But it was a long time ago and I am sure the process has improved. Get corrosion under powder and you are royally screwed. An example - My Land Rover Brush Bar.

It's actually Aluminum Jelly, same company, but specifically to dissolve aluminum oxide.
If you have heavy pitting, it won't fix that, though.

I saw a Rocket with carbon fiber wheels very low maintenance. If anyone out there knows where they can be bought I am interested.
