A Day in the Life

Woke up this morning with no real plans
9:45 called Rick Chamness was thinking of a quick ride to Lebanon
He said he and a few friends were riding south.
Text from Rick,"Meet at Speedway 931& 26 11:30. It is now 10 am. That is not south?
Normally a 1 hour trip.
Quick shower and get my stuff together.
10:15 I hit the road to Kokomo.
11:10 US SR 26 closed at SR 29. Country Roads. (Bout 20 Miles out)
11:25 arrive at Speedway. (don't ask)

Bill "So Rick where we riding to?"
Rick "Lafayette"
Bill "What route we taking?"
Rick "Don't know you are leading the way."
Bill laughing "THANKS"

I take them from 26 to 22 and down Old Sycamore Road to Burlington. Here I find out one couple has to be back to Noblesville by 4 pm. Change of plans.
SR 29 to SR 18 through Flora up to Delphi stop for gas at the Shell.
Leaving Dephi we go out Bicycle Road to Springboro Rd to Battleground. Stop at the Battlefield for a short break.
Leave Battleground on 225 to take them over the bridge.
The Bridge is an old one lane iron bridge over the Wabash. One of the last left.
SR 225 to SR 25 west to Lafayette.
Noblesville couple peels off on US 65. they have 1-1/2 hours they should be good.
Rest of us head to Post 11 for beverages.
Then they follow me to my house before moving on the Crawfordsville.
My job as Road Captain is successful.
140 miles today.
Over to Kevin and Dawn's place to meet the family and food.
Back home.
Re Forum
Shower and bed.
Good night.

Nice little ride Billy and it looks to be nice war day with everyone in short sleeves.

What's that Triumph twin? Is that a Thunderbird?

I too was curious about the monument so looked it up. It is to commemorate the Nov 7th, 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe at which Governor William Henry Harrison defeated Chief Tecumseh's Confederation of tribes, primarily the Shawnee. Tecumseh was not actually at the battle but rather his brother Tenskwatawa and a small force that tried to drive Tyler from their Confederacy headquarters at Phrophetstown.

That's way up in Indiana. Probably a memorial for The War Of Northern Agression.
Battle of Tippecanoe Memorial in Battleground Indiana. Indiana means Land of the Indians. Before western expansion of the colonies this was the place to be.
Really a sad part of our history.

You are correct on the memorial. Battle of Tippecanoe. The only two Triumphs in the group were Rick's Rocket and my America. Rick is looking at buying his girlfriend an America and wanted to check mine out. Everyone else was on H-Ds. It was a great day for riding.

We really had a great time. I just like to have a little time to prep when I am asked to lead.
