Apprenticeship Coming Soon

@scott in exile when Rob comes to FWB I got dibs on garage space and the spare bedroom. First come forst served and all of that ya know
No problem at all, now that my daughter has moved to Los Angeles we have two spare rooms(messy but spare) so you and Rob can have your own room or share one if you like I do not judge:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Congrats Rob...what happens to your day job then...if I may ask? Retire?

Day job is US Army, yes, retire in March of 2021, so it gives PLENTY of time to attempt to download Nels brain into my brain (as if) lol.

The below google drive link will get you two my tune @Tripps and @DEcosse

Just finished comparing my tune file to others, Julian, MM3, Max Stock Performance etc. It would seem the upsized post collector section on my headers and short Yosh R-55 had a very positive effect on flow based on the fueling, the curves are the same shape for the most part, just using a lot more fuel. The exhaust is an even ID from the exit side of the collector all the way to the tip of the muffler.

I really need to get that plot from Nels lol. I'll send him an email.

Yes, just compared it to MM3 (on which it was based) - definitely a LOT more fuel in the 2500 - 4300 range at throttle openings above 20% or so.
Also see he made it run open-loop at the idle end - I did same with mine, O2 sensor just messes it up down there (mine idles beautifully now and good throttle response low-down)
I also changed the warm-up map for better cold starting
I need to re-download mine - can't find it on my PC (it might be one of the laptops though but easier just to download it)

One thing I noticed is that you have the 10129 base map version - you might want to convert to the 10181 base - that will get give you more up to date base map, specifically eliminating the Speed Error Check bug (sends speedo to zero at start-up sometimes until ignition reset)
Just open 10181 and then compare with your map and copy table by table into the 10181 to get your new tables embedded in 10181 base.

Yes, definitely like to see the plots with the A/F traces and torque curve

I tried 10181, my ECU wont accept it, TuneECU returns a "loading failed" error at 99%.

I was a bit shocked at the quantity of fuel he added, but, it works, it feels great, so whatever lol.

I have the O2 sensor disabled, completely, I agree it just causes headaches on old FI systems.

Cold start is definitely an individual bike adjustment, I know its fine down to about 45f for me, fires right up and does it energetically, going straight to 2,000 RPM and holding it there.

This was the tune in the state I rode it away with. By adjusting the top right box in the F table to 490, the 100% throttle and 10800 RPM, power jumps to 134.

Nels decided that wasn’t safe, AFRs were swinging to 14-14.2, so backed it down to 129 but with a safe mixture.

Butt dyno says torque is flat all the way down to about 3000RPM.

I know better than compare absolute numbers - this is how mine came off the dyno a number of years back (I've done a lot more tweaking, mostly at bottom and midrange since then)

First one is 90% throttle map and second one full throttle.

It is easy to dispel the 148 as being a 'stretch' - however just as relative comparison on same machine, the dyno operators own Sprint topped out at 108.
Factory crank hp specs are 118 and 147 - so 29 hp difference - my Daytona was 40 more than the Sprint.

Again, different dynos will give different numbers so not saying 'mine is better than yours'
This was on a Dyno-Mite dyno
