it is a known fact that the ign switch goes bad.
so it is entirely possible that some one jumped across something to bypass the switch.
may be near the main connection under the tank or at the relays on the left side of the tank.
possible under the fuses.

Io had a good nose around into the spaghetti under the tank, tried several things like disconnecting the ingnition switch kill switch clocks and indicators, but it's still playing silky buggers

u might try pulling the main fuse that should kill everything (i think)
and if it don't some one has spliced in a hot wire or it is shorted to positive power some where.
if it kills everything then start messing with fuses to help isolate the problem.

with that ign wiring harness disconnected it should not start something is wrong
does this have an alarm? if so they screw up.

It's had an alarmasectomy, to be honest it looks like someone has had a fit under the tank with a roll of insulation tape, that carries on down the right side to where the ECU is.

Sounds like you may have found it. Rats nest of wires with generous electrical tape. I'd be looking there and even if I found nothing it would be good to clean it all up and then a proper solder and heat shrink so you don't have future problems.

Good day today, finally finished rewiring the beast with a loom kindly forwarded to me from R-III-R Turbo, many thanks to him for that.
It's a weird one as I never actually found out what was the problem, but get hey it's gone now so I'm out on it tomorrow.

Glad it solved your issue

How long did the rewire take, out of interest?
