Hey guys,

Is anyone rocking the Boulevard Peak, part number A9708156, on their Rocket III Touring?

Is this accessory cosmetic only, or does it provide any wind-deflecting function at all? (Does it keep wind pressure off the chest?)

Let me know,

Joe

I'm not familiar with that model but by the looks of it, I would imagine it would put the wind right on your chest, neck, and/or head. Doesn't 'look' too functional to me but like I said, I haven't tried one.

I don't have one, but from folks I've talked to that did, I hear its purely cosmetic. Too short to provide any real relief from the wind.

I've ridden without the windscreen and find the air is pretty clean and actually more comfortable than with the stock screen. Only problem is with the pull back bars and lazy boy riding position, at anything above 60 mph you turn into a sail. And above 80 or so it wants to shove you off the back. Not conducive to long rides.

That's what I thought.

I ride without the screen in warm weather. I like the looks of the bike without it and I seem to get better fuel efficiency too. So I was thinking about getting some kind of smaller flyscreen to keep the wind off my chest (and avoid turning into a sail above 60 - as GPMAZ noted) but haven't been able to find one for the R3T.

Decision Making

Two choices as I see it..the Rocket 3 Triumph windshield blade(A9748064-$210),Take your new shade to a plexiglass cut dealer($35-40 here in Washington)and have them cut it down to the size you like(use the windvest test to see where your height should be...the string and can deal)..you need to use your same brackets and you will have a custom shield.A Rocket Captain in Nelson,B.C. had this done and was pleased.SECOND CHOICE.WindVest | Products Order the size you want but it is almost twice the cost but no trip to the glass cutter($366+frieght)..You still use your brackets..stay away from the boulevard as its cosmetic only(my opinion)

This is a very old thread but thought I'd jump on instead of starting a new one.

Well mine arrived yesterday after noon from Rocketrod and I had it installed within 30 minutes after giving it a good coat of chrome polish. It was in like new condition and as Rod had described to me, snapped right on.Thanks Rod.

Here are a couple of pics.

I set out for Hansville, at the top of Kitsap County and on the water, just before noon and it was a perfect day. Right away I found that the peak really is for cosmetic reasons, sort of, which is just fine for me. Sometimes I ride kit with the windscreen removed and this really trims it up. Harley had something similar years ago for the Road King and it was very popular for those who liked to ride without the screen.

I said "sort of" because while the wind still hit above the windscreen on my modular helmet, it was also deflected around the sides of the helmet. As I rode down the highway at 60 I moved my hands around in front of me to locate the wind path and this is what I determined. I unfortunately had to turn back after discovering that I foolishly had failed to adjust the controls and the mirrors when I repositioned the handlebar. Dumb!

The longer I own my Touring, the more I like it. One "feature" is that I can go from full tourer to cruiser in about 20 minutes. I pull the quick disconnect rear rack, change the seat to the solo, which came to me courtesy of Tripps, snap off the windscreen and install my new Boulevard Peak. When I ride to Canada in August I'll change it back.

I took this photo of the stable as I was closing the shop door.

Looks good Mike! Love your stable too... :) That's my goal one day; but I'll have to fit in two cars as well; oh and a relaxation/admiration area. Fortunately for me my bride agrees and our garage just might be larger than our house.

It took a long time Michael with 35 years travelling all over the world and living in different kind of houses, some with just a carport. When I retired we bought a small home on an a acre with a two car garage and enough room to build a two story shop.

I highly recommend it.

Sounds familiar... and we're not far off now... :) Fortunately, our days of moving into condemned base housing have come to an end (metal shipping containers/B-Huts for myself only notwithstanding)...
