Hi

Looking for help with a friends 2007 Touring.
Its totally stock.
Map 20367
He has had it about 7 months.
22000 miles on clock.
History unknown.

This issue started a month ago, occasionally it would cut out coming to a junction.
Then it started missing and kicking at low rpm cruising, occasional backfire and a sharp click from under the tank.
Under acceleration its all fine, pulls like a train.

TuneECU - no error codes.

I suspected an ignition problem, and bought new iridium plugs, air filter, 2 aftermarket coils.
Stripped it down, found No2 plug lead open circuit, and spark track marks on the lead.
Fitted new coil + leads + plug caps.

The occasional backfire and crack noises have gone, but the missing or kicking is still there.

Fitted the other 2 coils on their bracket from my 2013 Roadster.
Still the same, so there was a problem with front coil, now sorted, other coils shown to be fine.

So the big question, what's wrong with it?

Pictures show: -
One of the plugs, they all looked the same
Dissected plug cap, showing burnt 5K resistor

I have the same issue, hopefully have a fix next week, ignition switch went bad on mine, when it does that, try wiggling the key. On mine that fixed it immediately, or killed the bike like a kill switch, it could go either way. Pretty much nailed it down for me. Do you ever have an issue turning the key on, no power ?

First clean and crimp with needle nose iers the low tension leads to each coil. The front one is a bugger to get at. Take the plate mounted above it and toss it. Just to be clear here is a picture of number 2 coil and the proper wire location. Each is the same.

Disregard the blower intake plumbing as you might not have that style of air filtration. :D

How about the three map sensor vacuum lines under the tank? They are very critical to the ecu for fueling. A leak is gonna cause problems. Also, if you decide to replace them they are legnth critical

I have been battling a very similar problem with my 2008 Touring. I haven’t had opportunity to double check it, but I think I have a bad MAP sensor - the under tank unit, not air box.

Tune ECU will help you diagnose. Last I had mine running my MAP indicated the same Pressure running as not running.
