Well, the night started out great

I fully intend to buy back the "incredible hulk" :)

So all I be sayin is they will not assess you more money for the tranny repair you did.
I suggest not saying anything that may make them think the hulk is of any more value to you than to a stranger.
I also have dealt with insurance companies (hired for & against them). There is a reason they are the richest corps around.
Does the word slimy ring a bell?

They will add value for a trans that has been rebuilt in the last few months. If you spent $2000 on it, will it ad $2000 to the value? No. But it may add $200-$300 to the value.
I know this for a fact - I have worked for the b@stards & did total loss valuations & settled total losses.
I only did that for a couple years as I didn’t want to sell my soul to beelzebub.
Now that I work on the body shop side, we do all of the total loss valuations for the insurance companies that we are a direct repair shop for. Done thousands of them.
Fred, if you want to, pm me tomorrow

I too work for many insurance companies as a Machinery (Auto included) Valuer providing pre loss values for payout.
I can tell you that disclosing ALL that you have done to the bike is certainly beneficial to your payout $ and should not effect your buying the salvage - meaning you should NOT pay more for it as the assessor should be asking auction houses and wrecking yards for tenders and salvage estimations for the value of the salvage/wreck. You should be able to buy the bike at the same cost as the highest offer.
It is unusual for the extras and upgrades to even be mentioned to the tender participants and would not compel them offer more for it - so you should pay the market price for the WRECK only.

Holy crow Fred!!!! I am glad that you and the missus are going to be OK. After all, y'all are part of the 10 percent you know. (Insider joke) :)

Went for a ride down the shore of Lake Michigan to take in the sunset and get something to eat. Headed home after dark which is something we rarely do. We discussed deer and decided she would look left and I would look right. Had the brights on and was going well under the 50 mph speed limit when a deer shot right out in front of us. Rode to the hospital in an ambulance. Melissa is banged up on her left side. Don't think anything is broke. I'm a little scraped up but nothing serious. Bike is totaled. More tomorrow.
That's sh**ty. Glad to hear you are both relatively unscathed
