Sometimes it wont crank.

Mine did that once and it was the clutch switch. Holding the start button with cletch pulled, I could let the Clutch out a little and the switch would close and bike would start. You might try that.
 
My 05 used to do that until i put it on the battery charger/tender. If my battery falls below 12 volts it's a problem starting. Without the charger my bike sitting for awhile loses voltage. There is a phantom electric draw on some of the earlier models.
 
I noticed with my Touring that it would crank really slow even with a fully charged battery... After reading threads on here about the issue, I added a second ground cable from the battery to the starter and it made a big difference with the cranking speed. Doubt this is your issue, but thought I would throw it out there.
 
Had the same thing on my bike from new. Tried everything then took the starter out and opened her up, looked terrible inside. Bought a similar Toyota starter stole all the parts that fit and bam no issue since!!
