I would like to ask, how early is too early to change the oil? I am going to put in Mobile 1 4t and use the chrome K&N 204 oil filter. Plan on re-using the first crush washers. I'm also going to put in the K&N air filter tomorrow. I was going to do all of this before 400 miles.
Which one? If it's the drop-in underseat filter, I'd rethink that. You don't gain any additional flow or performance, since it's the rest of the intake that is restrictive. And they don't filter as well as a stock paper filter. It may be worth giving up some filtration quality when you're gaining performance, but personally I would only switch to K&N's if I were going to the triple filters and aftermarket exhaust, so at least I'd be gaining a big performance boost. Or I could see switching to the under-tank filter because you want to gain the stock filter space for storage. But if it's just the drop-in for the stock filter, personally I don't think it's worth it.
A few of us inc myself have had the same problem and it has always led back to the tune being very rich, at speed it can burn most of the gas st idle stall stall stall unless you keep Erving the engine
