How can this be comfortable?

Also keep in mind pro racers aka ringers, tend to be smaller blokes. At 6'2" my butt plants perfectly in the stock rise at the back of the seat when I lean forward and launch hard. Torso fully over the front my head lands right behind the gauges.

Being a little vertically challenged might put your weight quite far back if you used the stock seat.

heres a shot from the side....

THATS the drag racing seat and that pic was taken at the track

Maybe it's for ladies as I imagine a sub 10s with that step would rip your nuts off!

Amen on that!
I had a good friend since high school (passed away last year) that was a pro drag race champion for years for Harley.
He was 120 lbs and 5' 6". The man COULD ride - better than any I have ever ridden with!

Imagine what he could have done with a good bike Bull.

This was back in the 70s & 80s and his equipment was indeed the best HD could offer at the time as he was factory supported.
One Sunday morning, while I was working the wagon (downtown patrol) Larry happened by riding his new toy (a turbo Kaw 900).
He offered me a ride and I couldn't refuse so I jumped aboard, uniform, gun, sam brown belt and all, except hat.
What a RIDE it was! Fortunately not much around downtown early on a Sunday morn, so I escaped punishment for the third gear wheel stands the monster did and the tire screeching when hitting the boost in second gear! To this day, the fastest bike I have ever ridden. This experience is primarily what keeps the Carp on my mind.
