took a tumble on the rocket Monday morning

Same, glad you are able to tell us about it. Curious to see if your 6 ribs end up been more as early xrays don't always show up fresh rib breaks straight away, mine went from 3 to nine, all on the right side caused by the bikes rear back rest. Hope they do get the footage of the driver and car from the petrol station cameras.

I am thankful you made it though no worse than you did. I too hope they catch the miserable SOB who caused the mishap and pray you heal quick brother.

Another crash??!!! They say things group in three's so this should be it. Tis the season and as everyone has walked away we can be grateful.
Sorry to hear about your mishap, I know it does get better, BUT it will be pain full for a bit.
Another example of why we wear full gear, always better to be seen then viewed.

on my way to work monday at about 6:15 am I was heading south and another driver (who was heading north) executes a left turn across my lane. This causes me to lock up my brakes and this causes me to drop and slide. Luckily I didn't contact anyting besides the road. the bike slid along on its left side while I slid and rolled on both sides.
The driver of the other vehicle saw what he had done and chose to flee the scene.
I was on my feet asap so I could avoid being hit by another fine citizen of middletown OH. I had a lot of pain in my ribs and shoulder blade on my left side also had road rash on my hands knees and elbows although my ff helmet and armored jacket saved me from the worst of it.
I was transported to The Atrium hospital in middletown where I was diagnosed with 6 broken ribs. I spent the night, coming home yesterday.
I call last night to discover the tow bill is in excess of 300.00 to tow it less than a half mile and store it 2 nights. rather than pay even more storage a friend and I go bail it out this morning and with a bit of cpr we get it started and my friend rides it home, beause luckily the damage is mostly cosmetic. I am waiting to hear from geico's claim adjuster to see what will happed.
While I have had other motorcycle accidents this is the first to have me admitted to the hospital(the same day anyway).
My jacket and helmet saved me from very serious injury and if my bike had abs maybe the spill could have been avoided altogether (maybe). Just very thankful that everything still works and I will be fine.

Glad you live to ride another day Brother! Had a similar situation a couple years ago. When my helmet was bouncing along the pavement and the leather was sliding 50' I actually thought "I'm glad I've got this stuff on!"

Sorry to hear about the off but glad to see that you're on the mend.

I didn't catch whether the front end washed out or was it the rear tire locking up and washing out. The rear lockup is a real problem with the non-ABS Rockets.

Glad your ok bruddha. Not a good time to get a tickelly cough or a sneezing fit as they hurt like a mutha when you move don't they ? I broke 9 and stuffed the jaggedy ends thru both lungs as a bonus !
Plenty of fruit , veg and vitamins and heal quick mate !

Good to hear you're (mostly) alright. The bike can be fixed, that's the good news.

It makes a case for a dash (handlebar) cam doesn't it? May have caught guy's plate. How gratifying would that be?

Glad you will be OK. The Rocket has powerful brakes. Sometimes too powerful. ABS should have been on since day 1. I have been thinking about getting a new bike with ABS just for that reason. Of course I would swap my red tins over to the new bike.

I was thinking "I'm ****ing dead!" till I quit sliding then I I did a quick self acessment and tried (sucessfully) to stand. I knew right away the gear saved my ass!
