Thought I would share this with you all as I'm sure you have all had the same experience at some point
we all know a Rocket draws attention pretty much wherever you go
I had this same thing happen 3 times now and always at a petrol station

I'm minding my own business filling up trying not overfill or spill petrol on the bike and trying not to stand in slippy diesel patch by the pump and I see the guy looking on his way into the shop
on his way back he decides to make a comment ...a positive one like looks good or nice bike mate you know the sort of thing .
So anyway you feel obliged to enter into a bit of chit chat with him as he payed your wheels a complement
now he's not a bike guy ..he doesn't know the difference between CBR or a KTM but he likes bikes.

so here comes THE question " what size engine is it " you reply " it's a 2.3 "

then there's the pause and a couple more of seconds silence ..."a what " ..." I said 2.3 you know 2294 cc"
at this moment he looks a you like you're the village idiot this is a motorbike and you just told him its got a car sized engine ! your nuts !

Now this then generally leads to a more closer scrutiny of the motor itself and he then notice the rather obvious 2300 badge and start to believe you this can lead to him going to get his mate ,mates ,dad, brother ,son , granddad , workmate or anyone else who happens to be with him at the time
and then they are filled in on this amazing occurrence

of course the question of fuel millage and performance comes up

both of which you play down .." yeah not to bad" and "yeah its goes alright "

I enjoy it when the Hardley riders come and take a look. You have to speak Hardley which is in cubic inches. They get a strange look as they try to process 140 when the have 108 or 110 on those expensive chrome covers.
I just grin and compliment them on the cute little bike they ride. ;)

.. Through the years if I had a dime every time people asked me those questions I'd have enough saved up to fill my tank ,change the oil and filter and maybe the rear tire.. I don't get too technical I leave out the 2.3 round it off to 2300cc's 140 HP and tell them the torque is killer...!!:ninja::cautious:

I have a Vmax that gets attention but as a new R3 owner, I think I am in for some unique conversations. Have had a few and yesterday at the store, I saw a guy walk all the way around the parking lot to his car just to get a look at my bike. My wife still doesn't understand it all to well but she is catching on. She is always wondering if I knew that guy at the light that wanted to know what kind of beast we were riding..."No Hunny, just thought you were cute sitting back there and had to ask."

Over here you'd get a blank stare following that 2.3 and likely even if you added "Litre".
I am surprised that you didn't the most common comment I get, "Is that a 6 cylinder?"

like said before if only I had dollar for every time I get asked what size is that or is it a v6, the funnest one is when they are driving a car with a smaller motor or "Geez I never seen a Harley that big before" to which I reply "wash your mouth out this a Real bike its a Triumph" while pointing to the tank badge
