I just completed a 3,500ks (2,174 miles) test ride around New Zealand of which the real test was the last two days covering 1,482 kilometers (920 miles) at a constant speed of between 110 and 130 kph.
I have to say that after owning six different Harleys (mainly touring bikes) I am very impressed with how well the R3 traveled and very keen to get riding again.

The only modifications I made were David Platt mufflers, forward controls and extended raisers for the bars however I am now looking at a different bar set up as I was still too far forward for my liking.
(if you have any suggestions to modify further, I'm all ears)

The only question marks are #/ missing a sixth gear #/ could possibly be tighter into hard fast corners

FYI - I am not really a public forum person but thought I would share with you that I am new to the R3 world and very happy with the change to a Triumph, to date at least.

Cheers

Welcome GM, From Brisbane OZ.
Suspension upgrades are a definite improvement IMHO.
Also some ppl have upgraded the wheels to carbon fiber - doing that increases your tyre choices and reduces the rolling dynamics improving the cornering making the bike more nimble. This is only what I have heard as I have not done this, but want too when the $ permits.

Interesting re the wheels consideration. I'm happy with and always liked the Metzelers so have no real thought of that change but suspension upgrades are on my list to discuss with the shop next week.
Cheers.
