Just wanted to let everyone know that RamAir has come up with a 3rd revision of their R3 air filter (TR-111), which finally seems to address all the fitment concerns with the previous version.

I bought one of the first revised ("v2") versions of the filter in May '15. I recently removed it for servicing after 15k miles, and was disappointed to find out the supplied clamps had dug into the rubber throttle body mounts even though I had tightened the clamps only very loosely:

The sharp edges underneath the clamp seem to be the culprit:

I contacted RamAir about the problem, and they promptly sent me a warranty replacement. I was positively surprised to see the replacement filter has a completely redesigned base! Here's a photo of the "v2" (top) vs. "v3" (bottom) filter:

The v3 filter base is made of much harder/sturdier rubber, and feels very similar to the OEM rubber parts. They have also redesigned the locking grooves inside of the rubber mounts, and the filter now sits perfectly over the throttle bodies. The fitment is so good and snug that I discarded the hose clamps altogether, and just used some wide zip ties instead. In retrospect, I probably should've done the same with the v2 filter, but I didn't feel fully confident with the seal to the throttle bodies without the clamps.

For anyone that's still on the edge with RamAir because of the earlier cracking problems, this new design looks like it should fully and completely address them.

I had the same problem with my V2. Cut out the mounting flanges and put in the stock velocity stacks as a temporary solution. Permanent solution is a Pipercross setup for me.

I just noticed yesterday, the crank case breather rubber has also split just below the filter. Anyone know the part number off-hand for the crank case breather filter from K&N?

It's a bit of a pain installing the filter on the breather nipple. How about putting a short flexible tube on the nipple, then a filter on the tube?

I also found a split on the breather on mine, ended up using a heater hose from a supercharged v6 holden motor.. With a little k&n filter... Looks a bit funny but does the job and no more little oil streaks down the block

In the picture it looks like the Air Temp Sensor hole is larger as reported by others over recent times is this so or just an optical illusion from the camera angle

Yes, the IAT sensor hole was slightly too large in the "v3" filter base. I just installed the sensor with some RTV gasket silicone, no biggie. I recall someone on another thread had already notified RamAir of the incorrect hole size, so it might be already fixed in the latest filters?

I have fitted the newer version, and yes the hole for the sensor is bigger than the sensor but they send some tape with it and it's fitted snug.
