There are detailed instructions on this site how to do it…you use a 12vdc remote kit & some 30amp relays…. the parts should only cost $30-$40. You will need be comfortable with altering the wiring of the bike tho.
 
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you didn't want anyone to see your license plate number you should have covered it on all the pictures.

Z-Man: the black rack really, really works. I want to do the same because chrome gives an unnecessary distraction from the matte black: did you have it powder-coated or Plastidipped? Whichever it was, was it resistant to hooks, straps and all the usual stresses of luggage or were you very, very careful with this beautiful specimen? Thanks and happy trails.

He has not been back since soon after selling his bike Mar 26 2015

Mine has been painted black probably with a spray can and will need re-doing as bumps at the rear have scraped some paint.
