Just unpacked a set of Fehling bars that I bought for my Classic over a year ago, have a Touring now and as far as I see the fitting for the bars is the same.

One thing I notice is the Fehling bars come with a long piece of all thread.

The top of the bars have a thick mounting bracket about 8mm thick, so that increases the length of the require top engine to frame bolt by 16mm.

The standard bolt does not look long enough, and I don't like the idea of using all thread going through the top engine to frame mount.

It looks like the top bolt from Triumph is 282mm long.

BOLT.HHF.M12X1.25X282.

There is enough thread showing through the nut for what looks to be a thinner bracket for OEM Triumph bars, looking at pictures on various Triumph Spare websites.

It really needs to be about 300mm long, for the thicker Fehling brackets.

Anyone fitted these bars using the all thread?

Is it a firm sliding fit in the holes in the engine and frame?

Don't want to spend the time taking out the original bolts to find that the all thread it too sloppy.

Thanks

I wouldn't be to cool with a piece of all-thread myself. I would think this engine mount bolt should at least be a grade 5. Maybe an 8. I would go to the industrial supply store and buy a proper bolt.

Yes that's what I am included to do, been looking here for 300mm hi tensile bolts, not easy to come by.

Maybe a long stud threaded each end and nuts both ends.

What did you decide on the matter of the engine-mount bolts? I want the Fehling bars too, cheaper and much nicer (bolder?) than the Triumph ones. Thanks in advance.

Fehling say 38mm (1.5"), with one pic here Fehling. I think they have a more square-set look than the Triumph ones.

Thanks for answering anyway. Wish I could take the bars off your hands, as we're not far away, but my movements in the next few weeks are too unpredictable: I'll keep an eye on your ad nonetheless.
