I have a 2013 rocket touring I bought last summer. I have an atv jack but don't want to lift on the sump any suggestions thank you
you will search and find many answers about this specific situation here on the forum it has been discussed at length with lots of option to lift I personally on my lift have the pins that fit in the holes at the bottom of the rear frame to lift the back and a rubber mat on the front lifting arm never a problem

HELP!! This was posted on another thread, but there seemed to be little activity there so here it is again!
OK, so a little problem has arisen. Somewhere along the line the frame changed a bit from the first pic to the second. I thought the only difference was the hole size (13MM to 8MM), but turns out that there's a "nub"sticking down (white arrow) on later models that prevents the rear bracket from being seated properly. Does anyone know when the frame changed from 1st pic to 2nd?
ALSO can anyone tell me when they changed the sump drains from front/back to both on the bottom?

I want to make these usable for all Rockets, but as of now they'll only work on earlies models (before indicated changes) A little help please!

Not sure if this helps but it look like 2006 and 2007 Are close to your picture. If you want I can go take a picture of the 2005 I have in the barn.

First 06

Now 2007

It look to be a bit different then the 04 or 05 engine you have shown. I will check the 2005 I have and the build date for ya. I can not see enough of the silver sump pan to know whether yours is the earliest style silver engine or not ( my bet from what I can see is yes) I will also make note of which one I have.

Thank you! They look the same as the '05 that I used. I had read elsewhere that it was around 2008 when they went to the 8MM hole there. I'm now guessing that's when the "Nub" appeared too.
Are there also differences in the engine (dimensions) from year to year?

I suppose by 'sump drains' you are excluding the main one used to drain the oil tank.
The Roadster 2010 onwards (my compliance plate is 12/2009) has three sump plugs on the bottom of the sump, a main larger diameter one and one at each end with smaller plugs. I did see using the earlier Rocket 3 pdf. manual I found on this forum that they also have three but the images do suggest the F and R plugs are on the side of the sump bottom. Never checked to see if that was just how they were illustrated online or actually were.

Yes, the '05 model that I originally used had the F&R drain plugs on the front & rear (not bottom) of the engine. The rear brackets are sorted out now that will fit both configurations. The front seems to have even more variables, but still fit some models. The good news is that the rear one, due to the centered position on the bike is capable of lifting front & rear or rear alone, depending on the position of the jack.
Going to BTB this week, so anyone there with questions can look me up. (Red Marble Haze T-Bird)

I got this thing and it's perfect. The rear mounts are a bit taller than the front of the plate causing the rear of the bike also to come up a bit. That seems to give the bike great balance front/rear. I had no problem taking the rear wheel off the Touring, no tendencies whatsoever to droop. But, alas, not sure if they ship to the US. Other more ghetto lifting brackets can be found with searches, but the permanently mounted Jack-be-quick ones might be an idea also. I never jack mine up outside my own garage so I'll keep using the plate.
