Ignition switch, will TRIUMPH stand by it's product

My ignition issue. I was the original owner of a 2009 Touring. In 2012 the indicator lights started to flicker when turning the key to start. At first, wedged a thin plastic washer between the ignition switch. That worked for about 3 months and the problem started again.

I was afraid the bike would shut off while riding in traffic and cause an accident. Called the dealer where I purchased the bike for price and availability on the ignition switch, they quoted me $45.00 over suggested list price. Also, not in stock and there would be freight charges. I purchased the switch through Bike Bandit and paid actual list price without freight charges.

Now I understand brick and mortar cost, but stop raping your customers. Knowledge is power! Dealers need to understand they are competing against the internet, which is a wonderful thing for the consumer.

Anyway, back to the switch. Took the switch apart and found the two contacts on the end had worn down causing the short circuit. This is (supposedly) a part that is non-repairable, however soldered both contacts and filed until they looked new. Yes it worked but since ordering a new switch I decided to change it out.

Hopefully my 2014 won't have the same problem, but if it does I can fix it myself. This is my second Rocket and I'm very loyal to the brand.

no relay or anything like that, it looks like we've just been replacing the ignition over and over. I'm looking at installing one of the keyless ignition systems I keep hearing about on this forum, I'll not sink any money in to a known problem.

I have and can say with confidence - You shall NOT be sorry!
Recommend also going with the PDM 60 Power Distribution Module.
PM @DEcosse for info.
